i painted mine with hobby shop enamel and sprayed clear over the top.
after a year, they still look good.
it's a real bear getting in there to paint them. took me the better part of a day.
not to mention that i had to strip them down entirely first with a tootbrush and a bunch of paint thinner.
i masked out the crest and sprayed with silver wheel paint. then when that was done, removed the masking and painted the crest with gold, black, red, and white.
during my search, i found several different paint schemes ranging from all silver to various different things.
i ended up more or less going with a scheme from a performance products magazine. there are some things that you just can't do by hand with a paint brush that they may be able to accomplish in a factory.
if you do it yourself, keep a ton of toothpicks and an exacto knive handy for scraping any paint drips right away before they dry.
