Outside temp display (also posted to Rennlist forums)
#1

I removed my outside temp display to replace the light bulb. Prior to replacing the bulb, the display worked properly. After replacing the bulb and reconnecting the wiring, the display shows -36 degrees F (I'm in CA- it was in the 60's today) for a couple seconds after turning on the ignition key, then goes blank.

There are two 15 amp fuses (#11 and #36) labeled "exterior temperature display"; both fuses are ok.

Any solutions? Thanks in advance.

When you replaced the bulb, did you have to do any soldering to make the bulb work? I did, supposedly the exact replacement isn't available any more so I had to solder a smaller one in.

If you soldered it in, wouldn't have been hard to drop a piece of solder where it shouldn't have been...

Take it apart and use and ohm meter to make sure all is okay...

No soldering was necessary. Quarter-turn counterclockwise to remove the old bulb, quarter-turn clockwise to install the new bulb.

Does anyone have a procedure for diagnosing operation of the display?

Thanks.
