Our "new" bathroom
#1

Here is a "before" picture of the bathroom (had not been updated in 30 years) ...

Here is an "after" picture...

And in response to Rap's question: "What did you buy your wife?" with regards to the fact that I now have a 2-post lift in the garage... I told her that the labour for that wall was worth 1.5 times what I paid for the lift!

The ledgestone was Darlene's idea and I was not impressed with the idea of installing it... but it turned out great. I installed wire mesh on the top half of the wall, fastened with large flat head nails directly to the studs. Then applied a strong "scratch coat" one day and the stone the next day. That way the weight of the ledgestone (it is real stone - not a "man made" immitation) would not be hanging off the drywall. The wall to the left needs to be textured yet and the shower area (you can see the curtain in the left mirror) still needs to be ripped out and redone.

Interesting. Certainly a different look. Is there more light? I figured Darlene would convince you to square the deal! Smart man! Lol

There is a light/fan combo on the ceiling.

With Darlene in sales at a lighting wholesaler and myself having been an electrician in my 20's, lighting is a priority in our house. Different lighting allows for "mood" setting, which can transform the look and use of a room.

yup - lighting is everything when it comes to setting a mood in a room. i have dimmers everywhere. on top of that, i have different types of light in various locations, creating the temperature of light we want in each spot. we just redid our master bath and i added quite a bit of lighting. as soon as i dig up all of the "before" shots, i can post a thread showing what we have done. it has been a huge project, and we still have 2.5 rooms to do, but we're getting there. lol - of course we're in for a little over $300k in remodeling at this point, with another $70k or so to go in the next few months, but i can finally see the end of the mess.

p.s. - i like the stone work, but what's up with what looks like an unfinished wall to the left?

I knew someone here would possibly catch that , so I had made a comment in the last line of the original post about that. Good eye!

I am planning on building a 40' x 60' garage with a lift for the cars and a loft for storage. We will see if I actually can get the cash and break ground this year.
