And we have a winner!!! I figured the 911 Turbo would be relatively easy (I could have used a side photo which would have been less obvious). But I wasn't sure anyone would figure out the license plate. WELL DONE!!! The gentleman in the photo is the owner - he also has a Boxster S - and, when he doesn't want to drive, there's also a driver-equipped 745il (or is it "iL", I forget). I should live so well...

Anchorman, just as an aside. Pete Fitzpatrick took me a a test drive after he did the Run-Rite thru Anchorman's curve. There should be a plaque there commemorating your "slide" into embankment.

I actually figured Taiwan from the flags in the background...

Excellent observation, bandit. As the photographer, I was so focused on the subject I didn't pay attention to the little background details.

As for Newtown - I'm looking forward (well, maybe sideways) to revisiting "my" curve. Happily, the only result of the incident is the memory - no physical damage.

I'm sure you took off a couple of years off Pete's life. The next fun run we will have to make a pass thru Anchorman's curve. Sounds like a great trip to Taiwan.

Did you know the person with the Turbo?

Yes, the owner of the Turbo was my host - and now a partner in a deal with my company. This morning was my departure from Taipei - in a pouring rain. He arrived at 6:30am in the Turbo, and his son arrived in his previous Porsche, which he has decided to keep - a 2006 Boxster S. He bid me farewell and drove off in the Boxster after giving his son the keys to the Turbo to drive me to the airport. In addition to the 745il, there's also an X5. A pretty nice private fleet, I'd say.

Hi Anchorman,

I hope you remembered to include the "I get to drive the turbo" clause in your partnership contract.

Come on out to Bucks and we'll be happy to run you through the covered bridge tour (with a special "detour"). It was a great time and we look forward to many more fun runs.

Regards,

Jay

I seem to be running into Porsche folks more and more. Today a meeting was held in my office and one of the folks was wearing a neckstrap with 911 on it. During a break, I asked him about it, and he told me it related to a Porsche. I said that I could figure that much out, and that I had a 968 as a daily driver. After just a little more prodding from one of his associates, I learned that he had a number of Porsches ranging from a 1955 356 (which won the Full Restoration concours award at the Portland Parade, and the Gmund Level of Achievement Award for garnering 298.6 points) to a 2005 Carrera GT featured on the highlights page of the 2005 Greenwich Concours d'Elegance). He reeled off a few other cars (at least 4, possibly more, including one more full restoration 356). I may have to get to know this fellow a bit better.
