option code 719 -- Special reconstruction
#1

I ran across the following car on Autotrader:

[URL=www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=201290347&dealer_id=57815087&car_year...

I noticed that per the research that I've done, some of the items on the car didn't match it's 1994 model. The Amazon green color, older style seats, and wheels indicated a pre 1994 car to me. I contacted the owner, a PCA member in Dublin,

Oh, and he said that the car had a 719 option code indicating that the build date on

the car was actually in '92, but as the car went unsold, it was "Specially reconstructed??????" and sold as a '94. A couple of questions:

- Has anyone had any experience with this

- Any pros or cons either way such as rarity

A couple of other odd things, at least to me: the wheels, old style cups or whatever they're called, are 17". I didn't know that was available??? The owner also said that Porsche indicates that the VIN # shows the car as having a GT Package, yet his option codes do not????

What exactly is the GT Package, and any ideas why there would be a discrepency?

This is the color combo that I'm looking for, but kind of unsure given the situation.

Any comments/help would be appreciated.

I usually see it as a 718 code and since these cars were not very big sellers it is very common. I think both of mine have that designation both a 94 and 95. No big deal for me.

Would the GT package be the P07 that seems to be on 50% of the cars that nobody has ever deciphered. I think it was different combinations of items on different cars.

Hi mark,

I'm certain other here know better than me, but I believe that the 718 code is "manufactured in (1994) and sold in (1995).

719 is a specific code for specially reconstructed and I suspect that it would mean that the factory refurbished the car to bring it to 1994 standard. (I notice they didn't remove the "Glove box" under the hood though...)

718 means that it is really the year before, but sold as following year - it's found on many 94s (mine is one), and so far all 95s we've heard from

Here's the link. Would like to know if anyone knows the REAL reason for a 719 code.

Amoss, contact Porsche Cars North America and they should be able to fully explain the option code and what the reason for "reconstruction" might be. I do not have their website or email address (but google will probably find it) Porsche Cars North America Inc. ATTN: Customer Commitment Department, 980 Hammond Drive Suite 1,000 Atlanta, Georgia 30328. Good luck, Bob Blackwll.

check out the string about the registry under General Discussions. The phone number for PCNA customer service is listed there. They are very helpful.
