on the street, but '05 m3?
#1

i was bringing my car home on i-95 one day when i ran into an '05 bmw m3. it still had the 30-day tags on it. we started playing around with eachother and wound up racing. the dude had the smg, but i could tell he just had it in drive and he wasn't using the paddles. the best i did with him, we both ran from about 75 to about 110 and when we hit 110, i only lost one car length to him and i had the top down and i wan't driving too well(it was the 7th time i've driven the car in the past 18 months). also, my throttle cable is loose as crazy so i know my car wasn't performing up to par. maybe it was just a freak thing.

those cars are no slouch - with something like 333hp and only a bit over 3415lbs in coupe form, and 3781 in cab form, they are not to be trifled with - they spec 0-60 in 4.8 sec in the coupe

feel good if you did that well

That's one of the few cars that I wouldn't care if I was beaten by. I drove a friend's; I think it was an '04, and wow! Talk about get-up-and-go. Speed isn't the only thing that BMW got right with that car, either. Cornering and braking are also spectacular.

If my 68 was a road car I'd have chopped it in for one by now.

I bloody love them.

Sorry guys

Ultra modern, front engine, rear drive 2+2 coupe vwith a singing straight 6 right up to 8000rpm

Plus that M diff

Shame Porsche left us high and dry and didn't compete with a new 68 at £35k

I wonder if that engine would fit?

now, i have a different opinion of the car

they're fast, and a very nice road car, but WAY too heavy - the weight of the 968 is bad enough, but another 400lbs??? makes it hard to be nimble - can't fight physics

we have an E46 and, while i really like the car, and appreciate its abilities, it's definitely a heavy feeling car - it's not an M series, but the feel isn't really all that different - the E46 is sedan, plain and simple - it's a very fast sedan though

now if they peeled out 600 lbs or so........................
