It sounds like he "stole" the car so even my wife would be okay if she knew I got such a deal (didn't have time to consult with her first) and planned to sell the item in the future, the question is when in the future??? <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

    Well she's here.................I got the call at 10:00AM this morning that she was in town and one half hour away. I gotta say the interior is not as good as described and it has some curb rash. So much for Porsche Dealer PPI. She still looks good and I'm finding my way around her this afternoon.

Welcome Ross,

I also have a 94 slate grey cab. When I decided to repaint it completely, I was hesitating between midnight bleu and slate grey. I chose for the slate gray because it is the original color of my car. The window of the original hood was cutted so I chose a new hood in another color, bordeau red and I like it.

I changed already some parts, see signature. Next will be KW V3 struts.

I still have to place braided inox hoses for brakes and clutch (parts in my garage are waiting).

In digging through the stack of files I got with the car I found the timing belt was changed at about 65,000 miles. Now at 87,000 miles. The belt and pulleys were inspected last year and tightened. I am a little nervous for the car came from AZ and CA. The heat is, as I am told, as well as the time since, the enemy of timing belts. Even though they drove the daily I'm thinking I should flatbed the sweaty to the dealer to have it done. I’m scared to drive it. What a wuss. Spent some time cleaning her up but the most ugly thing is the driver’s side gray door vinyl. The top 3" wide rim is brown from the sun and whatever. I found out she has posi when I had to get over the lip in the garage. I had to back in, fresh rubber both rear wheels. Our friend Jeff has kindly offered to come by to give her the once over………….Thanks Jeff

I'm looking forward to seeing the car. Sorry to tell you, there is no such thing as a limited slip differential tiptronic 968. LSD was only available on 6 speeds.

i was discussing this with pete, after i bought the white cab, drove it, and it felt to me like they were both grabbing, and he says that there is a form of lsd in the tip - no idea what type or what the rates are though



i just called him to go over that conversation, and he was about to hop into a tip - we will be talking about this more in the near future, to try to determine exactly what is in there

Interesting, maybe an early "traction control"? I know PET lists three transmissions, 6 speed w/o LSD, 6 speed w LSD, and tiptronic and as you stated, the 220 limited slip differential option was not offered for Tip cars. So, whatever they have they all have it.

Welcome to the 968 Forums and the wonderful world of 968 driving Ross. I have a 1963 356 B T6 Coupe, Ivory with white interior in addition to my 1993 968 Coupe, Midnight Blue with Light Gray and Classic Gray interior. Do no;t worry about the heat having bad effects on the timing belts. Here in New Mexico I have owned my 968 for over 5 years and change the belts on a 30,000 mile schedule. No problem with any failure in ln spite of the hot, dry weather. Good luck and as The Maestro always said"Keep The Faith". Bob Blackwell.

yeah - while heat can certainly damage things, it's the variance in temps that does more harm to rubber than just the heat alone - after a while it just loses its elasticity, and that's when it goes - rubber actually tends to last longer in warmer climates, than the ones that also get cold
