OEM 968 Roof Rack
#1

Anyone have a part number for this rack, or a used one for sale? I'd really like to get my hands on one, maybe i'll find one at hershey if i'm lucky. These were used for 968's, 944's, and possibly 924's.

Jon Hansen, who I haven't heard from in years had one on his car....maybe it's time to track him down.

I wonder if he has a Facebook. What city and/or state is Hansen from?

He called every dealer in America and found it in the storage room, brand new. Paid about $100.

I've got the OEM cab ski rack at home.... No line on the coupe roof rack though....

The techart OEM front splitter is NLA from Porsche IIRC.

I have the techart OEM cab rear wing at home as well. That will hopefully go on this summer. There is a fella in the UK (I believe) who makes fiberglass reps of the cab rear wing. Very inexpensive and probably work very well - no affiliation here.

Thats a lot of store to call Jay. I know someone else here found a techart spoiler that way as well. Maybe i should start making phone calls looking for rare parts.

Jim, any photos of the oem ski rack for the cab?

I would def. get the decklid spoiler installed on your cab if i owned it. The Techart spoilers have really grown on me and if i ever purchase a cab, i'd love to have both the front & rear spoilers on my car.

I think I have a coupe roof rack in my parts bin (I collect rare Porsche parts like baseball cards....) -- I'll check later this week.

Dino-

There is a factory poster with, I believe, a red cab showing the ski rack, of course on a snow covered scape...

I do not have any personal photos of the rack - it is still in the original box. To be honest, I don't even know if all the parts are there!!!! I should probably check.

Joseph-

If you are offering the coupe rack for sale and Dino passes, I'm interested.

Dino,
Here is the number:

944 801 005 00

main support roof rack system.

Then they have numerous support attachments that work with it. You might want to consider the surfboard carrier, 928 801 019 02

I wanted a factory rack as well, but it seemed unlikely, so I got a set of new Thule aero bars from the Thule Rep and now I'm in a never ending search for the right fit kit. i've put the bars on the car, they look really good. I may try to modify an existing fit kit if I never have any luck...

I just pulled the roof rack from storage and snapped a few photos (see attached photos).

The roof rack is practically new -- it doesn't look like it was ever mounted. I picked it up at a swap meet just to put into my collection of rare parts. It even still has the OEM cardboard box to go with it, though that's gotten beaten up in the past 20 years....

What I don't have -- however -- are ski supports, roof cage, ski boxes, surf board supports, bike carrier (standard or race bikes) or the canoe carrier. They might be available somewhere..... I only have the roof rack (the cross bars themselves). And I'm not sure if you rig Yakima or Thules equipment onto this roof rack (the bars are rectangular, whereas Yakima bars are circular. Not sure about Thules).

Joe, the Thule bars are rectangular. Based on your photo's, they look to be similiar in size as well. Are you selling the rack?
