ok - way back when i was looking for my first 968 i checked out a car that looks like is VERY rare, and apparently not in the database

it was a 92 Copper Metallic (Paint Code 95F) 6 speed cab with black top and black interior

pretty sure it had 17s

pretty sure it it had the 10 speaker stereo and definitely had the CD changer and phone

i passed on it at the time, due to wanting one with fewer issues - in retrospect perhaps that was a mistake

anybody know where this car is now?

No help here Flash, but I'll be on the look out. My 968 came from CA so you never know what may pop up.

Bob, could it have been one of those dealer-repaints you talk about? There were no "color to sample" 968s in 1992 and the registrys are complete.

lol - not unless they took the whole car apart and did it - when i was shopping for my first one, i was specifically looking for body damage, as i wanted a car that had never been hit, so i was looking under carpet and all over the insides of panels to see original paint - this was definitely original

it was probably one of the ones that fall inside the first 60 numbers - as it was a 92, i wouldn't be surprised - the subsequent years the chassis were built in those numbers, but not assigned to completed cars - in 92 though, a few might have been done and transported around for show

that would be a "normal" M.O. for manufacturers - as an example, i have a buddy who has one of the 5 panteras that falls in like this - it's before the "production run", and has an "in house" serial number - i briefly had one of the MGBs that was the same deal

at that point though i wasn't focused on serial numbers, so i can't rule out a grey market car either

that's exactly why i'd like to find the car

So your willing to buy a 92? Is this due to the exclusivity of the color?

i haven't gotten rid of any - i looked at a LOT of them before buying my first one - pretty much just jumped on the second one when it popped up - pretty sure i know exactly which one will be the third, if i can figure out the space for it
