Amethyst Metallic (NOT Amaranth)
#1

(Originally posted in classifieds)

I brought my 1995 Aventurine Green Coupe north into Canada two years ago from Massachusetts. The exchange was very favorable at the time and I ended up with a very nice one owner low mileage Porsche for about $17,000.00 US. I know for sure that I own the only 968 in my city of 130,000 people. About 4 weeks ago I see this 'purple' 968 cruise past my office and I fly out the door, jump in my car and tail it. I was able to later speak to the owner who lives just outside of the city.

He drove down another day to show me his '92 M030 (with Amaranth plaid interior and Sport Seats). What a great looking car!

And now today I see it listed on the Canadian AutoTrader (www.trader.ca) !!!

I would trade him in a second, but he is not interested in trading If I could sell my car for 14K or 15K I would buy his in a minute .... but that too is unlikely to happen.

So if anyone is looking for a unique (check with Jeff on that) 968, this may be the one for you. With the dollar exchange more favorable to my American friends right now, this might be a unique opportunity to bring a car 'south' for a change!

If anyone is interested, I would be only too happy to be of any assistance since I live so close to this guy.

Check it out at '92 M030 on Canadian AutoTrader (www.trader.ca)

Fred ... er I mean Bracer (oops, looks like I blew my cover). Note that I have no affiliation with the owner, I have only met him once.

I know that this is not a thread, but I received some information from Jeff regarding this car and I think it is important that I post the corrections. I will add Jeff's reply below and I will also move this post to "Sightings" for freer comment.

Bracer,
That is a cool coupe. I can't respond to a classified ad so there are a couple of things that you can fix. First, that color is called Amethyst and is a metallic. Although I can't see the interior it sounds like it is the very rare multicolor cloth which is a plaid. That interior color is called Maganta. Finally, although i don't have that car registered I'm pretty sure that the M030 sport suspension package was not introduced until 1993 but again, once i have all the 92s registered I'll know for sure. So far, not a single 92 with M030.
Good spot and a cool car.
Jeff

Since receiving PM's from Jeff and Jim from the first Classified posting, I will try to get more information on this vehicle to share. Again, please note that I have no affiliation with the seller, just a random chance meeting. I would like to get the full story on this car just because of the potential uniqueness of it, and possible interest to Forums members.

It's not an M030 as the brake rotors are solid.

M030 optioned 968s have the 928 brakes with "drilled" rotors.

However, this 968 is optioned with the handsome 17" wheels
