I have a noise comming from my trans axle. its a constant bearing noise and does not go away when the car is coasitng in neutral. Which to me suggests the differantial is the culprit. can anyone help me who has had the same occurance. Before we pull it all appart it would be good to have some idea of what to look for. the car is an 94 and has recorded 136,000 kms.

does it sound like a 727 jet whine or a lower more growling kind of noise?

what brand of tires do you use? new, very well used already? They can give also bearing symptons!.
