i have been told 12 hours was "normal" - i haven't had to do it yet, so i'm not sure

Sounds about right. My guys may have cut me a break as I'd JUST got the car and maybe they felt bad it happened, but then again, that 10 hours did include changing over to a new muffler and rewelding a new tip and tailpipe so I guess I got away 'lucky'!?
