Carrera 3.2 vs 968 comparison in RS Magazine
#1

In the January issue of the French Porsche magazine "RS Magazine", they ran a comparison of €18-20K second hand cars, comparing a 968CS with a Carrera 3.2. Interestingly, they rated the 968 the better car 131 points vs 125 for the Carrera, but called it a "culture clash" with the efficiency of the 968 beating the charm of the Carrera.. They still rated the Carrera 3.2 a better "investment" though, with prices stable or increasing for good cars, vs 968 being stable (at best)

Blah! air cooled. I like driving my friends 964 but LOVE driving my 968, it just seems more civilized and the 911s more raw.

I drove a sweet little 89 Coupe all last summer and fall. Options included:

LSD

Sport Seats

Front & Rear Spoilers

Short Shift

Raised Hub Steering Wheel

I'm not a fan of aftermarket audio systems. However, this Coupe came with a well designed/installed, period-correct Alpine audio setup that sounded great (and didn't drain the battery!).

Ultimately ,I sold the bright red 3.2 to find a M491 wide-body example or a "real deal" 930 Turbo.

I ended up getting an 89 Slantnose 930S Turbo Coupe.

Wow! Not for everyone. But I grew up in the 80's; and an authentic "505" optioned Slantnose Coupe was the "it" car for that era.

So a "cool" car that attracted crowds, questions and pictures every where the Slantnose went. Fun, but I missed the autonomy of the lythe 3.2 Coupe.

I've passed the Slantnose along and am back to a M030 968. However, I'm now pining for a 993 C2S or a 964 RS America.

Still haven't decided what's next. I'll let "availability" decide.

My 2 Cents,

Porsche
