Greetings fellow 968 owners.  I have owned my 1994 968 for ten years - white with black top, grey interior, 6 speed with 46,000 miles.  It has mostly been a garage queen and I have decided  it needs to be driven more!  Last week  I had the  the clutch and master cylinder replaced  - the hydraulic line had ruptured but figured may as well do some preventative maintenance.  I recently  took the 968 over to Pacific Raceways near Seattle as a guest of the Olympic Peninsula Chapter of the PCA for some parade laps.  I had  previously owned an E36 M 3 and had done a number of track days with that vehicle - the 968 felt great on the track. With insurance issues and roll bar requirements my track days are over.  I am looking forward to the collective wisdom of the forum on maintaining and enjoying  my 968.

Hi Greg, welcome to the forum --

wow, amazingly low miles on your car!

look forward to a few pics once youve accumulated 10 posts or so, which removes initial forum restrictions.

my clutch hydraulic line blew a couple years ago. Thats when I really learned the meaning of expensive repairs, as the flywheel was a whole PMU (Porsche monetary unit, $1k) all by itself. but the car runs great regarding the clutch now.

And I do my own repairs...  :0)

Welcome from your neighbour up north!

(Edit - can't figure out what up with the line through the wording...)

(lines are gone now... strange!)

Welcome! Another fellow former P1800 owner! I find both cars have similar quirkiness factors, although the 968 is far faster and decades more comfortable.

Take a look at the West Coast Gathering thread on here for 2017. We are considering the Portland area, which would be a pretty easy drive for you. We had a great time at South Lake Tahoe in July, and we hope that with that success next year should bring in even more cars.

I was just referred to the fact that the 968 cab would not be suitable for track days at Pacific Raceways.  The Pacific Northwest Chapter  of the PCA rules state: roll-over protection is required for vehicles without stock protection from the manufacturer. This is an issue mostly with cabriolets not having pop-up roll hoops, e.g. 993 cabriolets require additional protection but 996 cabs and Boxsters do not.  I used to track  my BMW M3 with track days held by the local Porsche and BMW chapters.  I will just enjoy the 968 on country roads.
