Hello everyone,

My name is Tom with a black MY1993 968 coupe that has 165k miles.

About 11 years ago in Chicago, when the dealer said my rough running was due to cracked vacuum lines and gave me an estimate of 1000 dollars to replace all, I decided to maybe check under the hood myself. With only battery and oil changing experience, I found a large hose from the brake booster to the manifold disconnected at the manifold and reattached it with some epoxy. My "a-ha" moment happened when the engine ran smooth as it does today, and I decided to leave trade show marketing and go try this mechanic thing, because according to Lynch Porsche(no longer in business) there seemed to be a lot of money to be made. Well, 11 years, UTI, PCNA Apprenticeship and 6 years at the Porsche dealer, I now run my own Porsche specialty service and repair business. In that time I picked up a wife and the boy + girl option and added a MBA for myself.I'm still waiting on the money....

Now THAT is a great introduction.

There is a gathering on April 9-10 from Laguna Nigel to Paso Robles (See local events).

Maybe you could meet a few fellow 968ers face to face.

Regards,

Jay

I was out running errands and stopped by to meet Tom. Looks like he has a nice operation there, and there were 2 968s parked out front (his and mine).

Tom, to get the "details" on "detail day" this weekend, check this link:

Also under the "local events" section of the forum.

It was very nice to meet you.
