New Option Code RX-WD001
#1

Found a new option on the car today. Any guesses as to what this is?

Nope. That's the standard porsche wind deflector hooked up to the D1R brace.

Warmer. Great avatar btw. Is that yours raring up? Those wheels look huge unhinged like that.

Here's another angle.

Mirror bras?

Yep, must be the bras. The avatar was lifted from a Porsche ad. I like to collect images of flying Porsches but wouldn't want to see mine in that state! You're right, the tires look huge.

Correctomundo.

SoCal option only to be sure.

1) I barely ever take the car out with the top up

2) The windscreen cleaner tubes seem to always be plugged with something - wax, bacteria, who knows?

3) The position of the stalk is such that I've bumped it half a dozen times when moving from a shift to the steering wheel, which usually happens when I am in the middle of a fairly techincal downshift in a canyon somewhere - major irritating.

4) The unintended dry wipe action (I wonder if there was ever a recall for such a thing <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.png" class="smilie" alt="" /> has scratched my beautiful original windshield which royally pisses me off.

So, here is option - RXter-Wiper Delete 001

I covered the nubs with splicing tape - god I love that stuff.

One of the few gripes I have about the 968 is the position of the wiper control. Have accidentally bumped them on several times and like you said, it's usually during relatively intense driving.

I didn't know such a thing was possible. I mean, I know they come OFF, but having lived all these years in the NorthEast with varying degrees of liquid/solid precipitation on any given day, I wouldn't have guessed that in a month of Sundays.

The position of the wiper controls can easily be fixed with the installation of a 968CS Steering wheel. Ask anyone who has driven a car with one.

One of the oddities of the PA inspection is that my (lightly) driven 968 could be modified to run on smoke belching coal, but I am not permitted to drive without windshield wipers.

Adam (or Flash), is the CS wheel any smaller diameter than the stocker? And once installed is it positioned further away from the dash (and also the dang wiper lever) than the stocker?

Both of these would be good for me - I'm 6'4" so I need all the knee room I can get. Plus, my legs are long but I can't move the seat back as far as I'd like to because the steering wheel is then out of reach. Every centimeter the wheel can move away from the dash would help me.

Yes and yes. And the shape feels so much better in hand. Too bad my money is going into paint and maintenance before upgrades.

Are the CS steering wheels available thru Porsche? Or do we have to find one on line??

Very nice but I'm not sure if it can compare with the exclusive option XDEER on my old coupe. [Image: 057-1.jpg]

Can someone with a CS wheel give me some measurements? Overall outside diameter and the distance to the face of the wheel from where the wheel mounts to the column (or other fixed point on the dash).

If the CS wheel is even a centimeter smaller in diameter, and sits a centimeter closer to the driver, it's going on my (never shrinking) to-do list.

Thanks guys!

PS - One of the first things I noticed about my 968 was how obtrusive the wipers are. I wish they were tucked down further under the edge of the hood. Taking them off is an interesting idea. The car does look way cleaner without them. And I too have accidentally turned on my wipers way more times than I've actually had to use them. Hmm...
