Hello

Have just acquired a 1992 968 Coupe with Tip. I have the good fortune to own several other Porsche cars of different eras and they are manual transmissions. However, I am a PCA member having moved from Minnesota and open roads to stop and go here in Orange County, so I decided that a rare, unique, pretty and under appreciated Porsche: The 968, and a Tip would be a great combo. This particular 968 is black on black and in fine shape. It has an interesting plaque on the dash "Limited Edition" 497 of 500 and a Ferry Porsche Signature on the gas cap, as well as Porsche script on the lower span of the car beneath the doors. I can't find any info on this Limited Edition series, so I am curious if anyone is familiar with this treatment. I have a feeling it is a cosmetic differentiator and nothing more. Thank you for any comments and I am glad to join the Forum!

Welcome,

I believe that you are correct, there is nothing that I know of that would make your 968 a Limited edition. However, you should enjoy it to the fullest extent.

Regards,

Jay

I saw that for sale a while back and I wondered the same thing.

Enjoy the car, there are a couple of 968 owners in the OC who are members of the forum. They may be able to help you out with locating a good mechanic in the area.

Welcome. Jeff Coe with the PCA 968 registry can decode the VIN and maybe shed some light on the designations.
