Hi Everyone,
My name is Stephen and I live in Central Vermont.
I have owned a Porsche off and on for 48 years. My first one was a 1961 356 Karmann Sports Coupe, which I once owned from 1970-73. Had a child on the way and had to sell it to get a family car, I am sure you all know that situation. A sports car was no longer an option for me.
Over the years I had several 912's, 914's and a 911 S Targa. But I always missed my 356 notchback. These are also rare cars, in that only a thousand of these were built in 1961 by welding hard tops onto cabriolet bodies. So 6 years ago I set out to find another one, as I loved the sleek lines it had of a cabriolet in the back, and lack of a window frame around the doors.
As luck would have it, I actually saw my very same car appear for sale on Ebay, and I was able to buy it back again, a full 40 years later. I even got all my receipts back from when I owned the car. To me this was better than winning the lottery, as my old car spent its entire life in dry California and Arizona.
I had never owned a water cooled Porsche before, and I wanted to buy one so I could take it to Porsche events when it was raining or a long distance away. So I started looking into the 944 line. It was then that I learned about the 968, which was just as rare as my other 356. I wanted a coupe that also was from California or a desert region, and I found my 968 in Florida, where it had just arrived from California. Living in Vermont has shown me plenty of rusty cars, so I am glad to have 2 rust free and rare Porsche's.
I was going to upload photographs to this message, but I couldn't figure out how using a URL ?
