Hi, My name is Paul and I´m a Porsche-a-holic.

I have just bought a Black (Re-prayed from a metallic pink/red colour) 968 Coupe with grey leather interior and Design 90 Alloys (I don´t know why they were changed), Actually I quite like the wheels.   I previously have owned a 924S when I lived in the UK and a Speedster Replica which I sold to buy the 968.  Before I committed to a 968 I looked at Boxters and 996s in the same price range, but as I have to do my own mechanics that put me off on the 968 at least you can see the engine. Plus I was so impressed with the 924S I owned I would of happily owned another, although here in Spain they are around 6000€ for a less than perfect condition car. I sold mine for 1000€ 7 years ago and it was immaculate with full leather and a CS steering wheel. Dóh.

So far I am very impressed with the car it performs well and meets all my requirements I plan to keep it for as long as possible.

Welcome. You made an excellent choice. I'm also happy that the 968 is easier to work on than 911s and Boxters/Caymen.

Thanks guys, I have spent some time looking at the forum last night and reading about the Air-box modification. Tomorrow I am attending an auto-cross  (really its just a fast Slalom) and drag race event at a disused runway with my car, I hope to do well despite only having owned the car a week and not really having had the chance to test her performance yet fully.   If I can I will post some pictures and put a video on  youtube.        Right I´m off to buy a hole saw and a GoPro.

A long overdue update. The 968 has had its "airbox mod" done in fact I purchased a new Airbox so I can swap it over for its yearly inspection. Also I have removed the tinted windows and found the correct Cup wheels (took some searching here in Spain).

But mainly I have been having a ton of fun in it.....Earlier this month I atended my first Track day at Jarama  which is an ex Formula One track (40 odd years ago).

Here´s A VIDEO  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7TJZzCLGmg&t=274s

The 968 performed really well and I hope to do some more.

I´ve also joined the Porsche club of Andalucia, who are on the whole a good bunch of guys and mostly enthusiasts (usually driving older cars) but there are a few who just use it as an excuse to show how rich they are. But we do go on some fantastic routes and at quite a speed too.

Last summer I drove to see the Le Mans 24hours Porsche won but the highlight for me was meeting Magnus Walker who was really nice and happy to talk Porsches .

I´ve also done some Auto-cross and Drag Racing.

In July I´m going to the Le Mans Classic, then onto the UK for the Goodwood Festival of Speed and finally onto The Nurburgring and Porsche Museum in Germany. It´s gonna be quite a trip.

Cheers for you enjoying your 968 in the multidimensions it was meant to be driven in! Are passing signals required or is it open passing?

When we had a driver breifing the organisers didn´t really mention passing, the rules were 1. No drifting  2.Try not to be loud around the back of the track. and that was about it.

It was an expeiance as we were mixed with track cars like the Radical and race cars. My main objective was no to crash so I spent most my time in the rear view mirrors  and letting people pass.  Lots of people spun and quite a few crashed.     It was fun.

Was this a PCA sponsored event? Here the PCA puts drivers in run levels based upon PCA determined skill category. Looks like you had a blast!

If PCA is Porsche Club America then no,  I live in Spain and things work a little bit different here like I have said it was a free for all on tra,ck with passing on both sides and I mix of ability I had no idea of where I was going the first few laps. But it was fun.

New tracks always take time. I remember the first couple of times I was on Watkins Glen. I had no idea how drivers remembered stuff. Repetition is of course the answer. Getting passed on both sides must  be interesting!

I always try to have fun and drive as much as I can.  Alas no more track-days until I return from my trip in July hopefully from the Nurburgring.

Oooops! I haven´t shared with you guy about my trip. Well, I dorve 5500 Kms aproximatly in two weeks and this included 3 days at Le Mans and eight days in the UK.

It was a Petrolhead heaven I went to - The Le Mans Classic - The Goodwood Festival of Speed ( If you´ve never been it´s well worth it, every type of car and bike can be seen. Even if you do it just the once it´s worth a flight from the states). Then I went to the mighty Nurburgring and drove the Nordschleife where the 968 held its own against a track prepared  boxster.  When we came in the owner asked "what have you done to the car?" (it´s stanadard) and then he said he was trying his best to loose me which he did as I had some "Ring´ Taxis" and some super quick cars to let pass.  From the Ring I drove to Stuttgart  to visit both the Porsche  and Mercedes Museums  ( wisper it, but the Mercedes Museum is better).   Then I made the journey back via Barcalona to visit the Dali Museum.

The 968 performed well and driving on the Autobahn I tried to max it out a few times but traffic was against me I did get it up to about 140mph (It´s hard to watch the speedo and the road at the same time at them speeds), but it was fun trying anyway.   [Image: 1531811196611_zps7hniwocq.jpg] Waiting to attack the Ring[Image: 20180712_092600_zpsrjhdl4dt.jpg.html%5D291...qdvon9.jpg]  On the Ferry to England back from Le Mans [Image: 20180709_064557_zpspjdqacoy.jpg] At Goodwood you can get close to the cars  [Image: 20180712_092600_zpsrjhdl4dt.jpg]
