New in Alexandria, VA
#1

I own a 1992 white with navy 968 cab. The car has been in my family, and in Atlanta, since new. My father owned it until his death in 2002 and my brother (a forum member) has had it up until last week. It's my turn now! I just drove the car up from Georgia and it drove beautifully. I am excited about the car and my new hobby. I look forward to participating in the forum and using its resources.

Thanks for the welcome. I am checking out a few mechanics in the area today as I start to search for a 968 doctor when I need one. Forgot to mention that mine is a tiptronic.

Welcome.  I also drive a white with blue cab, a 1994, and live in Virginia (Williamsburg).  I think you (or your Dad) made an excellent choice!

Look up IMA in Chantilly, VA. They are experts!

Just got my emissions test and passed with flying colors. 2 more years, though, and the car will be exempt from the test.

Re mechanics in the area: IMA in Chantilly as suggested above or Chapman Auto Werks in Sterling, VA. Taylor Chapman looked after my 968 very well while I lived in Rockville, MD. He is one of the guys who really understands older front engined P cars.

If you go to Sterling you should visit Darryl at Odds and Ends Detailing he has lots of products to make your 968 shiny Smile

More good suggestions. I will visit Odds and Ends while meeting with mechanics. The engine, while not bad, could use a little sparkle.

Not sure if it is good or bad to use my 968 as my daily ride to and from work, but I am enjoying it too much not to make the 10 mile round trip every day.

It's probably a lot better than sitting in a garage all the time.  As long as you remember it's a 20+ year-old car and stuff can and will brake down sometimes.

I agree with that sentiment. Thanks for your take on this.
