Hello all,

My name is Mark Bates and I just joined from Ada, Michigan. I don't have a Porsche yet but I am doing my due diligence about which one to buy. Joining this forum will hopefully help me make an informed choice. I have been looking at a 911 SC but have been put off by some concerns of the unique handling characteristics and advanced age of these models. I had seriously considered a Boxster until I came across a lot of reports of problems with the M96 engine.

Then, when I did more digging about the 968, it really seems to be a very intriguing model: great handling, good quality, and something out of the ordinary. I look forward to finding out more about it.

You will certainly find enough here to make an informed (if slightly biased) decision.

Welcome...if you're deciding between a Boxster and a 968, that's a no brainer. The 968 was the third generation and best of the evolution. The only category the Boxster gets a nod is parts availability since it's a current model, but other than that, the 968 performs just as well if not better, handles great and one of the things most of us 968 owners happen to love is the fact that you've already mentioned....the unique look. Boxsters very rarely get a second look when driving down the street whereas the 968 almost always gets a head turn or two. Good luck with the search.

Welcome to the forum. I agree with Darryl, the 968 is a real head turner; it's great to hear the oooohs and aaaahs from people when I drive by. I was also looking for a Boxster for a while, but I wasn't impressed with the quality of the seats, the rather strange gauges, and some other things (sorry, no offense to the Boxster owners out there, I still think it is a cool car, just not for me). The 968 was the right car for me. Good luck!
