Excited at becoming a new member
#1

Hello, 968 fans! My name is Jeff from Chatham, Ontario, Canada and I'm delighted to become a member of the 968 club. This earlier this year I purchased a Guards red 1995 968 six speed with only 68 000 km. Originally a Florida car, it then became Michigan owned. The last six years it has become a Canadian car in the city that famous hockey player Wayne Gretzky grew up in- Brantford, Ontario. Now as the fourth owner, I am excited at continuing to treat this car as it should be.

Back in 2010 I had a goal of purchasing a Porsche within five years. My first Porsche was to be a 928 S4, but through research and practicality, the 968 just seemed to fit the bill better. It's been in several local car shows this summer with many compliments and ogling. Being a Porsche fanatic since early childhood, my dream has finally come true. Driven almost daily I am pleased to find many valuable websites that cater to 968s and look forward to communicating with other owners through the many forums available.

This car is dedicated to my uncle who passed away suddenly this past March. When I decided to look for a 968, this particular car came up on autotrader.ca one day prior to my uncle's death. When I asked the previous owner for more pictures of the car, he sent me some that were dated March 3, 2010- the birthday of both my uncle and I! Now if that's not fate or divine intervention, I don't know what is.

It's truly amazing how reliable, economical and easy this car is to drive. Future goals for this car are several. I would like to update to 993 Cup (Cup 2) 17" wheels, tint the windows and attend more PCA UCR events. Thanks for reading my new post. Porsche- There is no substitute.

Welcome. I too had always dreamed of getting into a 928, but was always scared off by the cost of repairs - tho I never really did any serious research into it, I just assumed a big honking - and German - V8 would be outrageously expensive to keep running. When I discovered the 968, it became my new, and current, Porsche obsession, as it is supposed to be much more economical to run. So far, not so much! But I love it anyway.

A warm (er) welcome from the West coast!

Hope your 969 treats you well and vice- versa. I also began searching for a 928 and almost bought a 1998 S4 but the wife objected and to this day I am grateful. I also was spooked by the maintenance costs that I read about. Three years of 968 ownership have not dampened my P-car enthusiasm and although there are costs involved with maintaining a 20 year old " premium" sports car, it is probably way better than the 928 route!!!

Hope to hear from you often. Post pictures as soon as you can...

Welcome from the Wet Coast eh. There is a ton of information here and it will take months to get the basics but it will be worth it. You can start by searching for window tinting, quite a few discussions against, very hard to get rear window done properly.
