I'm in the final stages of my rebuild this weekend. Can't remember how the battery cables route after they leave the battery compartment.
- Don't recall if they run along the top of the firewall, and then drop down to the engine (about mid-engine); ground connecting to the bellhousing, positive going through a strap on it's way to the starter.
- Or, when the cables leave the battery compartment, they immediately drop down and run horizontally under the heater hoses and then along the top of the bellhousing, etc.
I currently have mine running the second way, but think it is wrong, as I kind of remember (from last fall) removing them from along the top of the firewall.
Can anyone take a quick look under the hood to see if they are running along the top of the firewall as I suspect.
Thanks in advance.

Cloud, thanks for the quick reply. Yeah, I was pretty sure that my recall was correct even though thats not how I have it.
Just after my note above, I left my house for the market, only to run into a 944T a few blocks away. After my unusual request, the owner pulled over and popped the hood. I not only found out the correct routing for the batt. cables, but found out I had the DME boot in upside down. Now it all makes more sense, as the heater hose, the DME cable, and the batt. cable all are well seperated from one another. Thanks to Chris, the driver of the 944, I now have a good visual of how mine should look once I get it corrected.
Unfortunately, I don't know if I can correct the issues without at least lowering the engine some to get enough space to rearrange things. Guess the front crossmember will have to be dropped again.

It wasn't that difficult since most of the front suspension still wasn't mounted. I just unbolted/lowered the front crossmember (with an engine hoist, and tranny jack under the oil sump) until the torque tube was just barely touching the rear tunnel brace. Made the job a lot easier.
