Mystery option codes 110 850
#1

I initially started this question in the best colour thread. I figured instead of cluttering that thread with off topic stuff, Id just start a thread to ask. The interior base code is TS, but option 110, and 850 continue to elude. The carpet is light gray, top of dash is black, bottom is gray, top of doors are black, bottom part of panel grey, floormats black, seats light grey. It also has the number 09991

Also Jeff, how do I get my coupe in the registry?

Edit: Ive looked closer, and 110 may be a US version code. 09991 is part of the exclusive build program. Im guessing the 850 is something to do with 09991. Something "exclusive" fit to it.....still cant find 850 anywhere, only thing google brings up is other people asking, for 850, and no one knowing.

Well, Ive called the dealership the car was originally bought from. They dont know either. They dont show a option 850. Im beginning to think the option sticker was a misprint....maybe was suppose to be 650, which would be sunroof. Totally stumped. Oh well.

You are not the only one who is stumped. Option code 850 has appeared on several cars. If you do a google search you will find quite a few diff threads in diff. forums where people are asking what option code 850 is. I've looked through several and not a single person has the answer. A few 928 & 993 guys trying to figure out but cant.

I dont think what you have is a misprint. Some guys suggested getting a Certificate of authenticity, but it does not list all the options and i dont find them to be very acurate.

I'll bet you a beer you are misreading it and it is really 650 which is the sunroof code. The font Porsche used on the VILs is crazy. Practically all the VILs have 650 on them and it is usually the last 3 digit code listed. Send me a PM to get in the registry.

Yes, it is the last code on the sticker. Pretty darn sure it says 850. A 6 could easily look like a 8 tho. Ill take a pic today. Just need to find a camera.

Sending PM.

I just looked at the sticker in my trunk with a magnifiying glass and what initially looks like an eight is really a six. If you look real close at an 8 it looks like an hour glass. I also have a code 968110 which is for MY1993....968 coupe. Is this what your talking about?

I'm sure you can find that code 650 is the sunroof. If you have a sunroof then that is a code that always appears on the VIL. Be careful with the option codes. Porsche reuses them so a certain code on a 968 can mean something completely different on a 996. Unfortunately, even PCNA doesn't pay attention to that. I have seen more then one Certif. of Auth. with an option code translated incorrectly by PCNA themselves!!! That is why you need to come to a site like this where we speak 968s. I have a 13 year collection of 968 production data including 968 specific option codes. Not 1 of them starts with an 8. If you have any questions just post or send me a PM. when a car was sold, prior to delivery, options could be added and changes made - these may or may not show up in the paperwork, stickers, etc - this was very common practice, and still is - i know of at least 3 dealerships that even printed new trunk stickers in the past for cars with dealer added options - some dealerships will also add options from other cars to cars that did not normally have them available (the boxster frequently gets a LOT of these)

the bottom line is that porsche will do just about anything to sell a car

that being said, i don't have 850 on any of my lists - i do have other 800 series numbers though - it's not the first time i have heard of 850 on a car though - i think gil had that one too

Thanks Jeff. Yep, just got back from the storage unit, its a 6. Dont have a camera right now. Curious how many white manual coupes there are. Im guessing plenty. Im wondering how many with my interior tho. If its a rare interior(im guessing not) then Ill leave it be, and restore as stock. Light gray carpet shows wear too easily. If its really common, im gonna put in black seats(maybe keep gray), and black carpet. Eventually delete electric windows, and go manual. to replicate the turbo s more thoroughly. The black doesnt show wear as easily, and I think would really accent the interior better to throw some more black in there. Id go all black inside, but a little grey looks good, I like the two tone interiors. Like I did on my 3.0 951. black, and cashmere tho.

Like I said, I'm not totally done with the coupe registry but I'm close. As you guessed, P5 grand prix white is a common color. Right now I have 227 but I would guess about 300 when I'm done, 3rd most common color. Your interior, code TS light gray/black partial leather is much less common, especially when paired with white. I think there will only be about 10 P5/TS cars, maybe less. TS is my favorite interior on the 968 but I would order the deviated carpets in black.

Thanks for the input Jeff, and all. Less than 10 possibly huh? Thats not too many. I dunno, still kinda leaning toward reversing from black floormats/gray carpet, to gray floormats/black carpet. 10 or so isnt many tho.
