My lucky day
#1

Yesterday was certainly a lucky day for me. I was coming on to the Capital (Wash DC) beltway and took off. Got to 5th gear doing 75 -80 (little traffic) and then I looked in rear view mirror and it was filled with a Md state cop. I slowed and the cop followed me and I said OH S#%T. I thought for sure I was going to be pulled over and then he passed me and went on. Whew! Then on my way to IMA on a toll road my radar detector went off. I was doing 75 in the far left lane. I looked back to see if the sheriff left his spot and he didn't move. Whew # 2. On the way home I stopped and bought a lottery ticket but no luck. I guess dodging 2 sure fire tickets was all she wrote.

Yesterday I also "dodged a bullet"! I was speeding (doing 80MPH in a 80KMH zone) behind two cars, which were blocking me from passing (annoying at the time!). Suddenly they both slowed down, still not allowing me to pass. As we rounded the next curve in the road there were thee police cars with a radar trap set up. My guess is that one of the cars ahead of me had a radar detector and saved us all from a ticket.

I have been using my Cobra more often - it's an inexpensive countermeasure. Now that the summer driving season is upon us, the speeding enforcement will increase.

But basically no one will be ticketed for:

1. driving in the left lane
2. tailgating
3. driving while texting or talking on the mobile
4. driving without a license or insurance

If a guy does get ticketed and has no license, here in NJ he will pay 4-$500 and be right back on the road.

Thanks Scott, now this thread is going to turn into a rant.

Good Job Police.

Yes, I was driving 85 MPH...in a Porsche 968 that has been meticulously maintained, serviced and modified for performance driving. Every time it gets driven the fluids are checked, air pressure balanced, windows cleaned.

the driver has 30 years of experience, 2 hands on the wheeel, no phone, no radio, 2 eyes on the road, fully aware of himself and his capablities.

Who gets away?

The teenager who has no experience (usually more balls than brains), driving while texting, eating, smoking, chatting to the 6 other teenagers in the car, putting on makeup. In the left lane, in a car with 150k and no service performed since Daddy gave it to them 2 years ago, filthy windows, may pop tires....

Where's the justice?

Whew, I feel better...

Jay

Here in BC they all tend to have an "N" on the back of their car as well.

I think I was not pulled over my the Md sate police as the Wash DC beltway is easily brought to a crawl by any police activity on the shoulders. Also the shoulders a not very wide. Anyway I'm sure feel relieved, Today I was pretty good and not driving at speeds (65 or less) thinking that I have had my luck streak.
