Alright- I consider myself extremely fortunate to have the 968 I do. It is a great car, extremely fun to drive and I hope I never have to get rid of it. This is the first convertible I have ever had and I love it - I will do my best to keep it in my garage for ever!!!

But, I want another!!!! I miss having my coupe. I would really love to have a coupe for my daily driver/grocery getter. I could sell my Jetta and pick up a coupe for only a couple of grand especially in today's market. Dump another 2-3K into it to get everything up to snuff and I'd have a good, reliable DD for what could be considered a reasonable amount of coin. But it ain't gonna happen. I used all my "get outta jail free" tokens when I go the cab - for sure!

I guess 968's are like tattoos- it's hard to stop at just one!

I have a ton of Mint Green 968 pictures saved on my harddrive. The more i look at them, the more i want to find that Mint Green Coupe and bring it back to nyc with me.
It doesnt help that the lady wants a Horizon Blue cab now either. She's going to bight the bullet as soon as she get rid of her current DD.

It's really nice that your SO wants a 968 too.... My Mrs. thinks my cab looks great, but she generally doesn't fret over a car like I do. Sometimes I wish she was more into cars!

[img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif[/img] It's great that my wife totally understrands the obsession with this car and sees nothing wrong with my searching for a duplicate which will just take space in the garage for what may be a decade or more, but given how stubborn I am about the features of that second 968, it may take another decade to identify it [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dry.gif[/img]

Sigh, it's so true.. they are addictive, one is simply not enough.

The guy (or gal) who bought Rader's pristine speed yellow M030 5k-mile coupe was apparently a 968 collector... Maybe he (or she) would have a lead? I re-read that for sale thread a day or two ago about that car. Wanted it REAL BAD! Still do!

I hardly have time to drive the one I have now...and I really want to!

Last weekend (anytime 968ers get together really) reminded me how much pure joy I get from driving. I left the concourse parking lot before the crowd and just "blew the gook out" for the few miles to Don's house and it still makes my heart beat fast just to be behind the wheel.

It would be a shame for me to have a second, only because it wouldn't get the attention it deserves. If I had the time (and $$$) I would like to have a dozen cars, but I think I would only have my one special 968 (It would be museum pristine and the fastest NA in the world [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif[/img] ).

Dino- If you get the mint coupe, it would be awesome! Definitely a nice looking car! I hope you're able to find it and convince the current owner to part ways with it! IIRC, it has a black interior, possibly with sport seats, no?

People think I an insane... my OBSESSION for this car, the ridiculous prices on parts, the hours I spend in the garage fixing stuff, taking it in for "scheduled maintenance" that ends up costing $4000...upgrading the stereo on a 17 year old money pit... my refusal to even consider trading it in on something else...

Now I know that I could be MUCH worse...

that and the color coded spoiler make a world of diff. I have bad thoughts of transferring all my modifications to the Mint Green Coupe. But if i do aquire that car, i think i will leave it all original and restore it. Maybe do a few minor modifications (CS Steering wheel, colod coded spoiler, MO30 Sways, OEM front splitter, & a Saratoga top).

Yes it could .. you can spend $ 80,000 + on a new car ( take your pick - BMW, Jaguar, etc.. ) only to be without it for a week or longer every other month while it's at the dealer for warranty replacement of parts that seem to fail non-stop ... and then it still does not manage to match all the attributes of the 968. I still drive this car because in order to replace it with any car that I would enjoy as much would require more $$ than I can justify spending.

Yup. And I realize this is purely a matter of personal preference but I can't think of anything under $ 75k ( and that may be low ) as a replacement, that I'd enjoy as much. In fact, I'd have to spend probably north of $ 150K ( a used DB9 , a used F430, a 355, or an underpowered Dino [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dry.gif[/img] , an Audi R8 ) No much else. I know I can buy cars twice as fast for a fraction of that cost, and some that handle significantly better than the 968 but, none IMHO that also look as great, except the ones listed above. And I can afford a six figure car budget but cannot possibly justify it - that's the whole point..no reason to do that . So I'll keep plunking money into this ( and the next 968 ) for as long as it takes.
