It's the one that is bolted to the right side of the engine and protects the oil filter as well as the motor mount from the exhaust manifolt's heat. It consists of two parts. One part in the attached pic (the left part near the motor mount) the other can not be removed without, well, way too much of a hassle (and it isn't in nearly as bad of a shape as the piece which I could remove.



Did the part change appearance since my '92 car?



Any help is greatly appreciated.

I can't identify the part is it possible u could take a picture of the other one so I can see where it is on the motor? I have a 92 coupe also.

This is one of three Bart's fastened behind the oil filter and covering or shielding the oil sensor, heater valve and oil filter from the exhaust. The part bolts to a triangular shaped bracket that you may find cracked and also attaches to to longer heat shield that isolates the exhaust headers from the water transfer pipe serving the cabin heater core. Parts are not reflected in PET that I could find however, Flash does have a replacement for the longer piece.

Dammit, I seem to be missing the longer piece... I'm pretty sure it was there. Maybe it's not equipped on a '92? Is it on your car hot968?



Btw Schwarz, looking at your engine is kinda depressing... Now I realize I have about 1.000.000 hours of grease monkey'ing in front of me. And I'm a lazy person, LAZY I'm telling you!

it should have the bent one. i'm going to have to look and see if my tip car has the lower one though. the upper one is a tip only part, and how i came upon the idea for the one i make.

I don't understand: so the upper long piece is a tip only? Why is that? Is the tip's exhaust hotter than a manual? Stupid question off course.



Where (and without part nr - how?) should I order the thing? Just ask for it in a Porsche dealership?

I just went to the pet parts catalouge and found a part that possible is the one you are looking for. It is part number 25 on the picture and part number 944 107 053 04. It is described as a cover plate

Yes indeed, Lear35A suggested the part also, and it is the closest match... The drawing however does not exactely match it. That is why I am in doubt. Maybe there is a part number on there somewhere? If there is, it's certainly no longer visible on mine.

92s are a bit odd. i have found a number of parts on them that are not on later cars, so unless you have a 92 PET you may not get the same part, though it should work fine.



an example is a very different setup at the bottom of the radiator. i just did an installation on a 92, got under there and found a whole setup that was deleted later. weird

Bulti, I looked and I don't have any thing like the curved piece running around water pump? and nothing on the tube thing on my 92? Not sure if this is the way it should be? It was neglected by previous owner. But my 93 tip have the aluminum cover over the pipe but no bendy thing? Now I am not sure what I am suppose to have, LOl,LOL my 93 is all original so I don't have a guide to how it should be.

It's all really confusing at best, wich car should have what shields... I think I will go to the dealership and ask the parts guy there. Maybe he's got answers, altough I doubt it.



So far: the tip should have all 3 pieces and the manuals 2: the bent piece and the piece attached to it protecting the motor mount.



Maybe the 944's shape is different and they didn't put a new drawing in the PET.

Not sure if I'm allowed to post or not. But in case I can, here's an underside picture of the heat shield. It gives a good view of 1) how it does shield the oil/coolant thermostat housing, the oil filter and the motor mount and 2) how it attaches to the block. This particular installation is on a '94 manual, so of course your results may vary.
