My A/C works well and blows cold, but when running, especially with fan on high and when I am accelerating, the center console vent blows cold drops of water out. It is clean, fresh water with no odor, so I am sure it is condensate of some kind, and not standing water. Do I have a blocked drain in the console somewhere?

This sounds like a question that came up on "Car Talk" once. If I remember right, this is the symptom of a blocked drain line. Not sure where the drain line is located on the 968, though...

The AC drain is hidden below the radio/cubby area and looks like a small S-shaped rubber tube. I think it directly drains on top of the torque tube.

No thats the 419 "cold shower" option. If you feel road rage coming on you hit the button and it snaps you back to a sense of calm with a cool shower.

My '93 Cab did that too when I first got it. Blocked AC drain. Though on hot days it was quite refreshing! lol

Yup, exact same thing happened to me a few years ago. I found a wire crimp stuck in the drain from the <acronym title='previous owner'>PO</acronym>! I miss my random fresh water shower, makes the drive more interesting.

Yes, I had the same problem. Replaced the small drain tube under the center console., behind and under the radio area. tough to get at but a very doable task..

Had this issue recently and figured I'd post the pictures of my repair. 

 

I had to remove the screws holding the center console in place and move it back/up 2-3 inches to get access to the area the drain hose is at via passenger footwell:

 

   

 

Once I had access, I was able to locate the drain hose and confirm it appeared to have a problem :

 

   

 

...specifically, the bottom of the hose (that drains out the lower body of car) seems to of melted:

 

   

 

Ordered a new hose (part number 944.572.221.00) - here's view of old hose and new one :

 

   

 

...and was able to get it installed with 15 minutes of my best imitation of a circus contortionist and a few choice words :

 

   

 

After a test drive, I was able to get a temperature reading coming out of the AC vents of 34.8F, so I'd call that a happy air conditioner!    Just had AC recharged a few months ago, so it's running as well as it probably ever will.  ;-)
