Its doesnt have the farty-ish Honda sound. Think of a Honda Prelude with an expensive cat-back...but only deeper. Its a smooth sound, but the closest thing to it is a Honda imo. In all honesty...i like the sound. The rasp/resonance at 3K RPM goes away once the exhaust gets hot as well.(which was really my only complaint with the sound).
Our cars will never sound like a Mustang....we arnt driving V8's. Maybe if you bend a couple valves...you will get a burble thats similiar to a V8 stangs.
I've heard the Tri-Flo exhaust which sounds deep, but loses its pitch at high end and you almost dont hear it. I cant compare it to the RS Barn unit because i also installed the Header. I dont think the sound would be drastically diff with a tri-flo cat-back & RS Barn header, compared to what i have now though. Like i said, it is what it is....high high compression big discplacement naturally aspirated 4-cyl.
If it is sound you are after, you can always remove the resonator and/or muffler, get a nice exhaust tip...and thats prolly the closest sound you'll get to a stang.
As for Flashs car....from what i understand...he has everything i have in terms of bolt-ons. I have my ported/polished high compression head with a 3-angle valve job. He has Petes Cams..which more likely then not add more power then my head does, however he is slightly heavier. I also have a lighter flywheel, so we should be pretty close at this point....unless he has more work i'm unaware of....which would not surprise me.
In terms of handling...he is the master there. His suspension set-up is without a doubt better then mine. My Coupe is slightly stiffer by default. But i still think i'd be hard pressed to out handle him....of course....if our cars are extremely close in terms of performance...it would come down to the driver.
