My '94 cab is history!
#1

Yesterday evening, a 16 year old, driving his friend's pickup, went flying at 55+ mph into the drivers side of my pristine '94 cab with just 48k miles. Apparently he was distracted and didn't notice me pulling into my driveway. When he looked, he swerved left right into my rear quarter. The car rolled into a ditch but I was able to crawl out with just a cut on my head from hitting the bar in the convertible top mechanism. 22 hours later and I'm not even sore. These cars are amazing. Witnesses who saw the accident (including my wife in the front yard) were sure I'd been killed by the impact. I took some pics at the wreckers this morning if anyone is interested I'll post them. Not a piece of sheetmetal intact. But the motor's running and I assume the LSD is intact along with lots of other good pieces. If anyone has a use for the car, I can check with the insurance company on what they'll want for it. You can reach me at larry.weinstein@wright.edu. The car is in Xenia, Ohio (close to Dayton.)

Deepest regrets on losing such a pristine specimem <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/sad.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

The best part is that you walked away unharmed and able to enjoy driving another day...

Regards,

Jay

What a terrible - and great - story. Sorry for your loss, but glad you didn't lose what's REALLY important.

Sincere condolences on the car. With a 54K 968 myself, I feel your pain. Glad you're ok and that's the important thing.

Sorry about your car <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/sad.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> and its incredible just how it managed to protect you. Lets hope there are no long term problems from this: car crashes are still crashes.

PS: Damn kids <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/dry.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

I too can attest to the strength and safety of the 968. This was my car after the crash

Again, most importantly you are OK and that's what counts the most. If you need a great Orthopedist, I have a friend/colleague at Wright: Henry Albers,MD

Thanks to all for your comments. And yes, I am looking for that next 968 although my wife insists I buy a coupe this time. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Larry,

If you find out where the car ends up, let us know. I'm sure there will be intrest in low mileage parts. I certainly am...

Like everyone else I’m also glad your OK.

I hope this doesn’t come off as inconsiderate considering what you just went through but you really got my gears turning here.

How many times did the car roll? Seeing as how it’s a cab I, much like the onlookers, I’m pleasantly surprised that the window pillars didn’t crush under the weight of the car and leave you with major injury.
