Moving to NC
#21

thought I would bump this to the top...my car is finally registered and inspected...ready to drive at last!

I've joined the local PCA chapter, so I'm looking forward to meeting the NC group.

Carolinas is a great region, you will enjoy it. Hurricane Region over in Raleigh is also great. We just hosted a DE at Rockingham and have another planned for the spring. Our Barbeque Runs are famous - next one is Raleigh to Reidsville on Nov 26th.

Welcome to the neighborhood. I used to live in Piper Glen in south Charlotte but have recently moved farther south to Waxhaw, NC. I'm a country boy at heart.

I think we should plan a Carolina, Ga. & Ala. get together to talk cars.

I'm envious, I moved from Matthews, NC(The Divide) off Idlewild to SoCal in Jan 2004. My wife longs to move back.

Keith, My wife is a native of Marion SC and we spent 26 months in SoCal. It is nice to get back. However, on the West Coast I hunted down a 968 (there seem to be more on the East Coast) and shipped it from TN. Now that I'm on the East Coast I'm looking to add a 356 to the garage and they all seem to be on the West Coast!

My wife and I are originally from Huntsville, Al and we moved to Charlotte in 1997, obsolutely loved it there. But When the telecom industry took a dive, Corning, layed all of us off and I wound up out in SoCal. I found my 968 in Oklahoma.

Have fun in Charlotte, go eat Italian food at Guytano's (I think that is how you spell it) near south park mall. Great food.

Gene -

I'm sure that Carolinas has a full slate of events, but over here in Hurricane Region we have a few autocrosses ,DE's, and other fun stuff in your direction. We just set the spring calendar in a executive board meeting today:

Feb 25 and March 25 autocrosses at Maxton airport (huge WWII era base south of Ft. Bragg) - or at Sanford Community College

April 21-23 We are going to do a group tour and hospitality tent at the VIR Grand Am Rolex race (I foolishly volunteered to run this - will no doubt be a complete disaster)

May 12-14 Driver's Ed at Rockingham Motor Speedway

May 20-21 Winery Tour - not sure exact locations but all of the wineries are centered on the Yadkin Valley north of you.

Full details will be up on the Hurricane Region website in January some time. Hope you can make it out!

Thanks for the heads up on the VIR Grand Am race. I plan on going as I have not been to VIR and it's in my backyard. I will mark it on my 2006 Porsche calender (Christmas present I hope).

Hi Gene,

Just running through some old strings and I see that you have recently settled in the Weddington area. I live at The Divide in Matthews (just minutes away). I recently purchased a 968, '92 Polar arctic Silver with Tip (had it shipped across country) and am really enjoying it.

Hope to see you around town.

Why don't we plan a Charlotte-area meet. I live in Waxhaw and drive through Matthews daily to and from work.
