New tires for the A6
#1

The wife needs new tires and I was wondering if anybody had anything great to say about an all-weather touring tire.

I have been looking at Yokohama Avid H4S and Bridgestone Grid 019 for starters.

She does not drive the car hard and wants good traction and quiet comfort if possible. I hear a lot of these tire start out quiet, but soon roar to life.

Anybody got any recomendations?

Had Michelins on mine, had the Sport pack with 18" wheels, was running smooth, silent, and lasted forever (the rears did some 70-80K kms before needing changing)

Sorry, probably by "all weather" you mean winter tires - sorry have not had those since when I lived in Norway in the 80's..

I should have said all-season tire. We have Michelins as well, but in 17". They have been pretty good tires, but are just so damn expensive compared to the list of other tires on Tire Rack.

The word "Potenza" in the Bridgestone line means "performance". They are a good all-season tire & the ride & handling is geared with a sport focus. If you are looking for a smooth ride with great traction & "sport like" wet & dry traction try the Bridgestone Turanza with Serenity. It has grip better, wet & dry, than the G019 Grid & a nice smooth ride. The tire is a asemtrical design meaning the inside & outside are different. They can be cross rotated to keep the wear even & limit the chance of a wear pattern that can get noisy.
Bridgestone has a 30 day "Buy & Try" program meaning if you are not satisfied, you can get something different at no charge.
