member not taking advantage of website features
#1

I've been noticing that there are a lot of features of the website that the members are not utilizing.

We have the ability to create Blogs here. This can be an interactive exchange all about your car. You can do just about anything there. Keep us up to date on what you are doing. Discuss in detail things that might get lost in a thread.

The Gallery is a feature that many are using, but it occurs to me that many are not. This is a great place to put pics of your car, events you attend, things you are doing, etcetera. They won't get lost in a thread and buried, but would be right there for everybody to check out. Take advantage. Start an album.

We also have a Chat Room. We could start to do scheduled chats. We could meet up in the room, and talk about just about anything, but it would have the advantage of real time reaction. This would be a great place for technical stuff to happen, or discuss a project.

Many of you haven't uploaded an Avatar, or a profile. These are great ways of telling people who you are. Give us some details about you and your car. It will go a long way toward creating a community where we can all find each other and get together for events and such.

The Member Map is being worked on, and will soon be able to automatically populate itself with the information in your profile. Take a minute to update your profile with current location information and such.

Poke around too. Don't just use the "New Content" button. There is a ton of stuff here, and you will be amazed at the wealth of information here.

We also working on creating a "Frequent Flyer" program that will reward members for active participation, as well as those who bring us new friends.

Chat says [#CSTART-6] The IP.Chat room limit has been reached. You will not be able to join the chat room until some users first leave.

Good luck trying to get software usage above the 10% mark. It's like MS Word, 90% of the people use 5% of it's functionality. 30 years of users has taught me that it is very difficult to get full involvement in processes other than the most convenient and "in your face" apps.

The gallery is not sorted by date but by user so you can't look at the latest updates without perusing the dates of all users? Or did I miss the sort button?

I'll poke around some more and try to set an example, the good kind, not my normal one

you can see the gallery by date if you hit "today's active content" at the bottom of the page and hit gallery - you would then need to select from the drop down in the lower right corner to choose a time framei'll look into the chat room issue

I was pretty good about blogging there for awhile and then got stupid busy and haven't had the time. I haven't even been posting much!! DOH! Of course, with the car being down, there's not a lot to blog about!

The couple of times I tried the chat feature just to see the interface, I've had no problems.

I agree, it would be neat to see how some of the additional features could be used to generate interest and discussion.

Haven't even had time to *unpack* it - just enough time to take pictures of the outside of the box.

I still need the Belt DIY before I can install it... [Image: sad.gif]

Just before I logged on the other day I was going thru something in my mind which I had mulled over the last few days. Which was how active and helpful Flash is on the site. I then logged on and came across this particular thread, and smiled. He's at it again. Can't keeep a good man down! I don't have the time, or energy to do anything really time consuming in looking after my 968, but I know a lot of you do, and Flash comes up with the goods time after time. I hope all you guy's out there who do rely on him appreciate his input! Getting back to this thread, I'm not the most fluent of computer user's and I hate faffing about finding out how things work! I'm not lazy, just not computer orientated. I love them at work when it saves a lengthy program which saves me time later, while listening to my saved music preferences! But that's about it! But I take Flash's point about using the site more usefully, so I'm going to give it a shot! So meanwhile I'll say again "Bash on Rob Falls! Oh, and enjoy Italy. Buenissimo!
