I don't think its worth the money either. But it is a pretty special Coupe and worth more then most other 968's with similiar mileage.

As-is, with current mileage, I say no higher than $17.5. If less than 50K miles, then I could see $20+.

They don't make them anymore, so... they are worth what will be paid by somebody who wants one badly enough. MJ and Lisa Marie Presley's marriage certificate sold for three times what that car is being sold for. And it's just a piece of paper. But it is the only piece of paper like it. So if you want it, it's worth it.

I believe I paid over true market value for my cab- maybe by as much as 10%. But, it was the color combo I wanted, had low mileage, was in very good condition so I didn't let it get away. So for me, the perceived "premium" to get this cab was worth it. My only regrets, if you could call them that are:

1) It was a low optioned car. Would have been nice if it came with some additional factory options- but color combo/condition was on top of my priority list. Not many options from the factory are desireable in my mind... sport seats, LSD, 17" wheels is about it, and maybe heated seats.
2) Wish it had come with the windscreen!!! I should have insisted on that, but I whimped out because I didn't care at that point! [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif[/img] [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif[/img]

Jim,
You have a great and rare car which is what counts. As you know, all of the SY cabs were low options, with the exception of the modified one, and given the choice of options or color, I would take color.

For sure, windscreen, 17" wheels, and LSD (and even sport seats - but I don't know about heated ones) are all addressable at your choosing. It simply comes down to what you want, and what you're willing to pay to have what you want...which is kind of where this started.

When I was looking for my car, there was an owner in Florida that helped me. I forget his name (Bio, you may remember him), but he'd had his interior completely redone in a baseball glove-type leather. That's what he wanted, that's what he was willing to pay for, so that's what he got. There's no doubt that I've spent more on my car than it's worth - but it's worth it to me.

I just looked back at the topic of this thread...wow, have we drifted. I guess that's what happens without LSD.

All true - although heated sport seats are like hen's teeth and it is a monumental undertking to add factory-style heating to a seat that has doesn't have the right switch plate face...

If and when I can consider getting a coupe to compliment my cab (serious pipe dream at this point, but you never know...), I will again shoot for one that fits my color combo desire and condition before considering anything else. I would't even care about the tranny- for a daily, I'm thinking a tip would be nice (gasp - I'm getting old!).

Jeff- I can't wait to see the final numbers on just how many M030s there are- I've seen numbers ranging from under 100 to approx. ~250 in the US. I'm guessing between 175-200 total for the US market. Were there any SY coupes w/o M030 that you know of?

Yes, there are a few SY 968 coupes without M030. I should have the SY coupe totals shortly.

I wonder if another Mint Green will pop up by the time Jeff is finished with the 94-95 cars (maybe a special order Mint Green late '94 or '95 car).

Probably not. Mint green was not a popular color to begin with. So far, I only have one "color to sample/solid" code 98 coupe and that is the very car you mentioned, the summer yellow car.

Jeff, agreed. I doubt there will be any more Mint Green cars out there. But you never know...there may just be one more.

Do you have the options codes for the two Mint Green Coupes we know exist? Are they both early cars with recessed badges, etc?

The one i have pictures of has Sport Seats & 17" wheels (its an early '92). Thats the All black interior car you mentioned.

Did you know about the mint green/blk coupe when it was for sale last year or the year before? I think the tan would look goofy with the mint green- black all the way! Sport seats to boot!

Jim, i believe it was for sale a couple years ago. But, no i was not aware it was for sale at the time. I found out after the Craigslist ad went down and have no idea who bought it. niether one of the owners (current or previous) post here either. Hopefully (although highly doubtful)...another pops by the time Jeff is done with the Coupes.

As far as the interior goes...the green over black def. should look much better. But there isnt much choice. If the other pops up for sale at the perfect timing..do i pass up and wait for the green/black? Or do i buy regardless of interior. Then again, i could always get my car professionally painted in Mint Green...but then i'd also have an interior problem.....My interior is deviating Blue & Light Grey....which wont match at all.
