M030s w or w/o LSD
#1

I'm busy working on the coupe registry and i still have much to do. I have to admit, one fact is interesting.

based on what i have done so far, what percentage of M030 cars would you think had LSD?

i would have thought almost all but right now i'm showing about 80% came with LSD and 20% without LSD.

Not what i would have guessed.

I'd say you guessed right...about 80% is pretty close to "almost all".

I would have thought 95% or higher.

If you are going to get a serious performance package like the M030 (which included the 17" wheels) wouldn't you also want another, almost necessary, permormance option like limited slip? Or are there some racers out there who would actually NOT want LSD?

Dunno, but interesting nonetheless.

My only guess for the non-LSD 20% would be they wanted to put their own LSD in from Guard or some other manufacturer. If they were serious track junkies, they might have had a specific lock-up ratio they wanted, and IIRC, the factory LSD option was available in only one ratio... Probably cheaper to get a custom ratio from Guard than to order the LSD option and have PoMoSports make one for you with the lock-up you wanted.

That is a good thought Jim.

I wonder how many people incorrectly assumed that LSD was standard?

hey Pat, can you PM me with your phone number. i have something to tell you.

How many cars have LSD & 17" wheels(and possibly Sport Seats), but no MO30?

The other thing that needs to be taken into consideration is that most of these cars were dealer alotment and not cars ordered by customers, but rather by the dealer. Customers sometimes end up with certain cars because thats what is available. For example, i walk into a Porsche store in '95 and they have a 968 Coupe in the color i want with MO30...but its lacking an LSD and none of the other stores in the area have that particular car. I wouldnt pass it up, especially if they gave me a great deal.

I have another question along these lines... How many M030 cars are out there without sport seats?

I was shocked to buy my M030 w/ LSD and find it didnt have sport seats in it.

Hey Carl (sorry for the OT Jeff...)-

Just drove through Norwich this past weekend going to/from Old Forge for a little snowmobiling trip!

If I ever see your car sitting outside, it subsequently might be missing its wheels!!!

Carl,

Ask me again this summer and I'll have a 100% answer for you but right now, only about 25% of the M030s also have sport seats.

The M030 I had did not have sport seats, but did have LSD. The driver's seat was a 12-way though which is somewhat rare. Was only missing full leather and heat. Sure wished it had sport seats!!!

If it had had sport seats, would you have kept it and not purchased the taxi?

I had the pleasure of driving your former MO30 Jim...really nice car. First time i sampled the 12-way power seats as well.

Dino,

The 12 way seat is fine and all but what did you think of the M030 suspension compared to your 968?

Jim,

I don't know how to tell you this but guess how many Aventurine Green M030s I have registered, 1, and I think that is all there will be as I'm just about done with the 94-95s.

Jeff,

The MO30 Suspension is a set-up i prefer over a standard suspension...any day. Compared to my suspension set-up....it felt bouncy and not as composed as my car...which made it less planted/stable at high speeds (the front and rear Turbo S spoilers help with my cars stability). It also does not soak up the bumps and imperfections in the road as well as my car. It did have better turn in response and was more tossable however. I actually had more fun driving the MO30 Car because of this.

For ref. Here is what i have done to my car as far as suspension;

-Koni Adjustable Yellows Struts & Shocks
-H&R Springs up front (1" lower then stock)
-OEM ride Height adjustment in the rear (lowest setting-3/4" lower then stock)
-MO30 Sway bar up front
-Lindsey Racing Sway bar in the rear
-Design one Strut Brace
-Design one Chassis Brace
-Weltmiester Rear Harness bar/Chassis Brace

And of course, i'm also running The Turbo Spoilers & R Compound Tires which all help tremendously with grip.

Jeff,

It's OK. It really wasn't the color for me to be honest.

Now what I really want to know is where those SY M030's are...

Yeah, that one has been floating around for a bit....

Wouldn't consider it for a couple of reasons:

1) Was tracked (potentially a lot)
2) Tan interior is an absolute no go for me
3) Price is very high for the mileage, IMHO
