Had to move this to respond...
Hasn't been registered since 1996? Where has it been.
I'm guessing the Chrome Wheels casued the salvage title.

rxter, Ramius has a set he is probably going to be willing to part with...I believe that Darryl is hooking him up with a refinished set for his car.

It has some nice options including LSD.
Midnight blue
Dark blue top
Classic gray partial leather
6 speed
LSD
17" wheels
full power driver's seat.
It is a 718 car so it has the 944 seats.
I have not seen the car before.

wow... 8,000 is a lot more than I was expecting. Sure it's low miles but who knows what damage has happened to sitting. Could end up costing quite a bit in repair.

I got my 86 911 from a dealer that picked up it at the Manheim auction in PA. It's been three years and the car has been trouble free, 104k miles on it, had all receipts so I knew it had been taken care of.

Were the chrome wheels an option on that car ? [/quote]
Not from the factory. The best you could get was option XD9 which was wheels painted to match body color. They are rare. 10 in total out of 4,242 North american 968 cabs and coupes. Most of the XD9 cars were white.
