Low Mile White over Blue Cab
#1

No affiliation but it's super close by...I'm always willing to go look! Owner has listed this one before for I think 19,500 or so. Looks like he wants to sell it now....

Ask price at that mileage is depressing, unless its a cosmetic mess or something else obvious is really wrong. Go check it out D.

Its a tip...6 speed would be worth $10k more.

I prefer the manual as well, but I don't think there is that much of a difference in price. We are seeing a lot more low mileage tips than manuals these days though... I wonder why that is.

my guess on the low mileage is that tips don't get driven as much, because they just aren't as fast, and according to porsche marketing surveys, were sought more by the commuter or girl than the typical sportscar kind of guy - that has changed a lot in later models though

my guess on the reason for sale is that they just don't keep up with modern cars in many areas that those same buyers would be looking for (i.e. creature comforts, etc)

as for the price differential, typically we see a 2000-3000 difference between a tip and a manual, all other things being equal (same color, interior, features, etc)

I bought my 968 nine years ago with a tip. I thought a semi-automatic transmission was the way to go living in the second hilliest city in the country Yonkers New York. I love my car and drive it everyday but I regret not buying a manual, every other sports car I ever owned was a manual transmission....and no super charger for a tip!!!

My 968 is a tip as well and I really wish it wasn't. But, I bought it from my dad for a great deal so it wasn't like I had much of a choice. It only had 31k a year ago when I bought it and now it has 39k. Needless to say, I still enjoy driving it but I really do wish it had a 6 spd. My daily is a manual at least, but it's not a 968. If only a conversion wasn't so expensive to do correctly.

don't get me wrong, i like the tip - the white car is a tip, and i love that car every time i drive it - it's so simple to drive, and in all but extreme driving, it's fairly transparent

but if i had to choose................

When I was looking for a P-car, I originally had intentions of buying a 928, but most were auto and the two 5-speed manual that I found locally were "thrashed". I guess that is because they are so much more fun to drive! When I "stumbled" across the 968, it just had to be a 6-speed manual. It is always a thrill to drive! The reason that most 968's that show up for sale are Tip would probably be because the 6-speed owners are less likely to move on to something else.

All things considered, I would love to have a tip coupe as a daily driver... Get in the seat and go, no need to worry about shifting and stop lights and hills and all that crap. I'd keep the cab as my "garage queen". Oh wait, that's what it already is since all it does is sit in my garage at the moment!!!

And I need to agree with the $2-3K premium for 6sp vs tip.

There's a Riviera Blue coupe floating around now- tip. Beautiful color.

i couldn't agree more - i tried to convince the wife to let me get her a tip cab for commuting - i told her i would load it with everything including heated seats - no dice - she wanted the SL550

i can't say that i disagree with the choice, but still, i would have liked to have another one

I now that we all love our 968s dearly...but for me a coupe with a tip...yawn...I'm just as happy with my very dull Volvo S40.

JMHO,

Ok, so above we have:

... were sought more by the commuter or girl than the typical sportscar kind of guy

... but I regret not buying a manual,

... My 968 is a tip as well and I really wish it wasn't.

... Tip would probably be because the 6-speed owners are less likely to move on to something else.

... but for me a coupe with a tip...yawn...I'm just as happy with my very dull Volvo S40.

Ouch .... hey guys, I love my coupe tip, the perfect choice!! Like flash suggested, the tip is actually quite good -- completely different than the "good old" legacy automatic transmission. And I'll take the lower price any day. Can I still be a 968 forums member?

Chocolate and vanilla I suppose. I saw a nice looking silver over black cab on clist this AM and thought - that's a combo I have not seen a lot of in this car (surprisingly as it is prevalent in newer cars like Audi and BMW). Then I see Langley's car - nice!
