Didn’t do it myself this time , I paid someone $ 150 for an exterior detail . Didn’t stay there to watch the whole process, it took him almost two hours . I just stepped out in the balcony every half hour or so to watch the progress. No claybar, but he buffed it, and used two coats of a commercial grade of “ceramic” wax he gets from some auto detail supplier . It was a liquid wax, not paste. He claims it lasts just as long as paste, and with greater brilliance . We’ll see.. But what’s amazing to me is that this a ( almost ) 30 year old car’s original paint, and I didn’t wax it more than once annually ..maybe twice in some years, but that’s all . And it’s no garage queen, has always been exposed to the elements . I think however, the dark color of the car accentuates the brilliance more than it would a white car, or silver, etc.
The below photo is from many years ago when I used to wash and wax the cars myself . Not bad, IMO, but of course not quite as lustrous as this latest result . That was a simple wash , and one coat of NXT liquid wax on it . No buffing.
And this one I waxed myself , also NXT liquid , one coat . No buffing, nothing . Also some nice curves B)
