what about the air bag light? won't that really annoying, bright red ! come on? i just had to pay to turn the darned thing off. i sure wish there was a way around that.

does the airbag warning only come on after the battery has been unplugged for a long time?

There no danger tripping the airbag light if you disconnect the battery. I do it all the time when working on the car.

etnier, thanks for the tip. that's the procedure i've tried a dozen times to no avail. i even checked to make sure the light in the remote is flashing. it just doesn't seem to want to learn. funny thing is that it was working for a while and then it went dead. like greimann was saying, i think it needs to be reprogrammed once in a while. i am guessing that when i had the car in for some engine work, they unplugged the battery and the remote lost it's code.



greimann - when i bought the car, the owner warned me about the airbag light coming on because the battery was disconnected over the winter. i'm guessing that you live in the warm weather somewhere and don't have to store your car, but do you know what makes the airbag light go on? seems like i've seen the info elsewhere, so i don't think it was a lie....

Hey, can somebody post a picture of the Key FOB that comes with the Bulldog 1702 system? On their website, they describe it as "OEM Style Remote" but it has the same cookie cutter picture as the rest of their systems.



I can't decide what system I want... I'd like to have the smallest possible Key FOB. It seems that the OEM fobs are all smaller than the aftermarket, which is disappointing.

Note that the ones on the shelf now have BULLDOG screened on the fob, but the shape and size is the same as the one below.

Anybody know where to buy this system online? I've checked all my local auto parts shops, and have not been able to locate any keyless entry, I've only found remote starts with bad looking fobs. I checked JCWhitney, but I don't think they have the 1702. Any links would be appreciated!

Just wanted to add my Thank You to Dave for this excellent write up and also for the contributors to this DIY. I just added the Bulldog keyless remote to my 94 coupe. How helpful to have all the connections at the factory alarm. Didn't get the turn signal flash hooked up yet, but I'm gonna tackle that after I get the relay. Great stuff...

It is possible (on the Coupe... not sure on the cab) to pop the trunk without running an extra wire to the rear of the car. The trunk pop signal exists in the yellow connector, a White/Blue wire. This signal can be tapped into by connecting the relay that comes with the package I've attached a diagram of the wiring required:

That is a good find. I wonder if it does work with the cab considering the footwelll switch is deactivated with the ignition off. In the spaghetti code wiring diagram, That wire is buried pretty well.

I'd like some clarification on the wiring of the DPDT relay used to flash the parking lights...



Also, I plan on NOT using the starter kill and I will then be able to use the starter kill relay to pop the trunk.



I'm also going to try and Flash the High Beam Driving lights- anyone try this yet?



I found my Bulldog at Amazon.com for $34 and some change. Another $10 got me 2 day shipping and it arrived within 24 hours!



One think I'd like to mention and I don't mean to offend 968Engineering- He tried to make his instructions usable for more than just the popular Bulldog kit. Had he just said "splice the blue/black (?) into the brown/red and the xx into the yy" I would have saved a lot of time trying to wrap my mind around bulldog's instruction manual and his all at the same time. I tried to figure it ALL out before starting and that was just a waste of time.

In which yellow connector? The yellow connector of the alarm brain?



Which wires in the alarm brain harness control the two sets of parking lights? My dad's an electrician and he explained the DPDT relay to me. Actually, I figured it out myself as he was trying to figure out what this was to accomplish. He can't just focus on the task at hand... <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/rolleyes.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />



But, I did find out the other pigtails are not the parking lights- the Brown with Green and Brown with Yellow are not the ones you want to sent ground to <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />



The other pigtails are the same as the Brown/Red and Brown/White and are part of the door lock circuit.



If it's not possible to tap into parking lights at the Alarm brain, I may go through the Hazard switch, what do you think?

Ok, I just finished my keyless. Awsome, it was just too easy. But, what are the brown and yellow wires. If the alarm flashes the lights when it goes off, don't you think then there should be some way to get access to the lights from the alarm?

Well I've just purchased the following from ebay HERE The "Lock/Unlock works great, but I have 2 questions that I hope someone can help me with.

This system has 1 wire for each turn signal, can I wire them direct or do they need to go via a relay? If via a relay, I have a DPDT as per post 20, but can the sender wires be joined together, or not? any help with a wiring diagram would be much appreciated.

If it has a wire for each light then you could give it a tru without the relay it will not hurt anyting.

Pinball, how do you like your keyless entry? I was thinking about getting the same one because having a separate fob reminds me too much of my crappy Yukon and a flip key fob thingy (is there an official name for those?) fits in your pocket better.



Does anyone else here have the same keyless entry? Any complaints?
