since this is a technical thread I'll refrain from making any wisecrack remarks, but oh brother that opening just begs for some. must resist, must resist... :glare:
that aside, I,m hoping one of our members from Japan can suggest a solution, i seriously doubt there is a separate fuse which runs those features that you can just remove and not affect anything else .. that would be too easy

Neither of those features are in US cars. Have you looked in the boot to make sure there's not a female hiding in there? And, try not to park where you have to reverse. Maybe someone that knows useful something can really help. Don't see anything in the fuse box that relates to either feature.
I did see some Japan specific wiring in the shop manual for electrical but nothing that jumped out a me for the two items you mentioned. I'll fry to look closer and see if I can find those.

Doubtful the reverse gear alert is an option in any ROW 968s either, I'm thinking it may be a regulation imposed on all cars for the Japan market ? As for the voice greeting, on a car of that era, it could be a custom feature installed by the previous ( lonely ) owner.

This is definitely not Porsche equipment, though if I had a Japanese girl whispering in my ear while driving my 968 I might not be anxious to get rid of that feature

I was in Japan two weeks ago and did not see a single Porsche the week I was there. I wasn't in a metropolitan area, so maybe that isn't too surprising. The Japanese do seem to be careful about their reversing. They honk the horn before backing up (I think it's a law), and any vehicle I rode in had a backup "beep".
