I think the couple model has a little more of an aston look to it than a ferrari... especially in the broad shoulders and the grill profile



the headlights are absolutely porsche though

i feel the exact opposite. By comparisson, the Cab is ugly....i really dont think either is ugly, but find the coupe much much more attractive. Most all of my buddies agree. All subjective though.



The 968 Coupe does not look italian to me at all. Its a mix of 944 & 993 styling. And it has been styled like every Porsche before it...with 3 intersecting arcs.

Actually, from some angles I always thought it looks a little bit like one of my other all time favorite cars :

TVR . ( man, I'd love to own one ) The Cerbera model seems closer to the 968 nose than the other TVRs.. Then again, the Boxster looks a bit that way too, and I HATE the boxster lines.. go figure ! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/huh.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

can't resist chiming in on the cab/coupe looks debate - as a general rule I do not like any cabs; to me they're incomplete cars <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/dry.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/tongue.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> However, that being said, as classic as our coupes may be, certainly enough to warrant comments such as " is this a new porsche ? " , by comparison

to the 968 cabs they look dated ! I think the cab will still seem ageless 5 or even 10 years from now whereas that hatchback will continue to plague the coupe as time goes on.. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/dry.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/sad.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

it is VERY subjective - i cannot stand the big bubble back window of the hardtop - if they did a vertical back window and had a trunklid instead, i've have been very happy, especially if they did a targa or t-top - but, i'm also not too keen on the 60mm taller windsheild of the hardtop, and prefer the shorter one of the cab - it makes the car look lower and wider



that being said, i am not too fond of the top of the cab when it's down, no matter how great it looks when it's up

I love both and for different reasons. I wouldn't dare call either ugly!



IMO the most appealing part of these cars is the front end, not the rear. So top up, top down or hard top is only about 35% of the equation.

OT: waikiki968 Do you have a Midnight Blue coupe? If so I think I saw your car parked at Costco in HNL back in May. We spent a week (Getting married) on Molokai and a week in Kauai (Honeymoon) I can not wait to go back it was one of the best vacations ever.

i completely agree that the front is the more impressive view



now that i deleted the third brake light though (which really made it look wider), and put those crazy huge tires on there, and lowered the car so much, i am beginning to like the back end of mine too, though the concave curve on the hips still bugs me

My 968 is a red cab. There's five or six 968s here, and one on Maui that I know of.

OK here goes... I have a 944S coupe and a 968 cab. I like them both, but the thing that binds the 968 to the 944 series is the rear hatch glass. The 968 coupe would look so much more modern if it did not have the same profile as all those 944s before it.



I know....the 968 cab has the same profile as the S2 cab, but ther are so few 944 cabs that the 968 cabs look different to most people and not like a 944.



My friend with the 928 has been asked if his car was a Ferrari. Not me though.

I took my cab up to Lake George, NY over the weekend to see a friend.



The minute I pulled into a Rite Aid - I got out of the car a guy standing there says "That's one hell of a car." When I left the store a kid in a VW shouts from across the parking lot "Nice Car."



As I was driving through town at night, I'm waiting at a light and hear "Look at that Ferrari"



The next night I hear "Mom, look at the Ferrari"



The greatest complement was when I was at a resturant, a guy comes walking up and says "That's some car"



Me: "Thanks, I got lucky" (refering to being able to find one)

Him "Did you win the lottery?" (no joke)

Me: "No, I just found someone in Manhattan who had to sell"

He goes inside then comes out and says "would you mind if I asked how much you paid?"



Part of me wanted to say that the car was $100,000 but I said I was able to get it for under $20k,,, he looked like I punched him in the gut when I said that.



I was so hapy, I told my GF that I couldn't wait to get back and post this. in the Ferrari thread <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Living in a city with lots of high class cars mine doesn't get that many looks (At least I don't think it does). But I do notice the odd kid checking out my car when they're driving by heh. A few people have asked "Hey, is that a 944?" "nope" "Hmm, 928?" "nope" "What is that" "It's a 968" "Ahh, cool"



But there was one guy who came by while I was fill up who seemed pretty impressed with what I was driving "Wow, you don't see many of those around anymore!" <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

When I was living in Lake George I owned a Saab Aero, but drove a vintage Jeep due to the weather mostly. Drove the Saab to visit my parents in Boston. I wished I had my 968 - maybe would have met more girls. Before the Cayman came out, I used to get "is that the new Porsche", but nothing in the way of compliments recently.

On my way to my usual drinking spot. I cam to a cross walk and stopped to let 2 business men types walk across and one mouthed "nice car". It is those type of complements that "make my day" and appreciate the 968 all the more. Being liken to a Ferrai is certainly a great complement. You might want to say: "Non questo e' Ferrari ma uno Porsche nove sessantotto e e' molto rapido".

Ditto all these dittos! I get comments and questions all the time. In Annapolis, there's just a little bit of money around and not a just few luxury cars. Ferraris, Lamborghini's, plus the usual P-cars, Beemers, and Benz's seem to be everywhere. But I still get admiring looks from them all. The most common questions are "is that a new model" (fun to see pure shock when I say it's 15 years old) and "what IS that?" because they've never seen one before (especially from Boxster owners who can write checks but have no appreciation for the lineage, and from 911 owners who say they've HEARD of the 968 but have never seen one, like it's a bit of a legend). That all adds to the fun factor of owning this car. I agree, that if the word PORSCHE was not all over the back, very few would know what this is. Also agree that the ass end of our car (especially the cab) is one of the sexiest around.

I guess the new top and paint on my cab has made it more noticeable (even though it's still basically black). I was at a local Italian restaurant and when I came out to the parking lot, there was someone standing by my car - his question was "Is this the new Boxster?" He said he'd heard that the Boxster was being redesigned - and that my car was much better looking.



A different kind of comment - Saturday, in line to get on the ferry to Martha's Vineyard, someone walked over, commented that it was a great looking car, and that they'd never expected to see a bike rack on a Porsche.

granted that was followed by me saying



"no, it's a porsche" (porsch-uh)...



to which she asked,

"oh, is that like a porsche?" (porsch)...





I just smiled and nodded
