Instrument Cluster Modifications
#1

I was thinking about having my instrument cluster gauges colored white to match my exterior color. I spoke to someone at North Hollywood Speedometer who said it would probably take two weeks. I believe he said the cost was around $280. Palo Alto Speedometer did not think they could do it because a couple of the gauges are plastic. I also looked at some of the third-party offerings such as the ELO style gauges but thought they looked to ricey.

So, I was wondering if anyone had any experience with these companies or had any other suggestions. I was also looking for any images or other modifications that have been done to the instrument cluster. Thanks! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/biggrin.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

I have blue LED's to light up my cluster; I think it compliments my blue interior nicely.

Larry Currie as I recall, has white faces on his gauges that are also backlit; I'd send him a pm.

I found a place called "white face gauges" that has some pictures -

However, I was trying to get an image that showed it installed in the dash so that I could see what the whole thing looks like.

I installed the "White Flamingeye LED Dial Illumination Kit" into my dash to help with the aging light problem which made it hard to see my dash at night. I highly recommend it! I am also including the previous links in case anyone is interested -

Did RUF, TechArt, Gemballa, 9ff or any of the other places have gauges for the 968?

Thanks.

I too installed the Flamingeye LED illumination kit. The gauges are now readable at night and the lights give the cluster a much more modern look at night. I highly recommend the upgrade. One change I did make to the kit as received was I changed the LED resistors to a lower value to increase the brightness. I don't know what resistor values he's using now but I definitely liked it even more with the lower value resistors.
