Was hoping I could make, but it's now become impossible. A venture fund is coming to my office at 12:00 about a possible investment in the company I run. So, another time.

Ron,

If we are still shooting for lunch next Friday, it will be at the Redeye Grill, 7th Avenue and 56th Street and across the street from Carnegie Hall. I need a time and number attending to make a reservation.

yeah - the "when" part is a ron thing - at this point, i'm just planning on landing and connecting with him, and then going over to wherever, whenever - as far as i know, raj and damian are handling the arrangements for the "where" part, and will let him know where it will be

well, i just got off the phone with the shop where ron's car is, and scenario 4 comes into play

back story:

we took ron's car into a shop that has successfully done a lot of work to a number of local owner's cars - no issues - it seemed like we could trust this shop - all that was needed was a belt job -the car ran fine and smoothly - the belts were just 5 years old, and ron prudently wanted to change them

they installed the new belts and rollers, and it vibrated like it was a tooth off

i had them pull the covers and bring up tdc - everything checked out - did again 2 times - same thing - all looked fine - what the heck?

in looking under the car, they saw a collapsed motor mount on the right, and a partially collapsed one on the left - no leaks or tears - while i didn't think this was the cause of the problem, clearly they were not up to snuff, so we changed them out - motor sits right now, but still vibrates exactly like mine did whaen it was a tooth off

monday - yank it apart again and look at it with fresh eyes - whoa! a tooth off - how did we miss seeing that? - we looked at it 3 times (it was just like looking for your keys in the morning 4 times in the same place and then finding them right there the 5th time)

ok tear it down and start over - did that - still vibrates! better, but definitely not right

well, to make a long story short, i was scheduled to take the car back on thursday to do it again (they were booked until then), and try to figure out what the heck the problem is that keeps getting missed - scheduling problem at the shop, and they had to push me - it now must be done on friday, so that they can have the car done before ron gets back - i am babysitting this job because i referred him there and feel a bit responsible for seeing it through

so, (wait for it) this means i will not be able to make lunch in NY

If they removed the balance shaft sprockets, they probably reinstalled them incorrectly.

that's my bet too - everything comes off AGAIN friday and starting over again - this has been a real nightmare - i don't understand how this shop can do jobs like this on a semi-regular basis and mess this up

clearly, i am going to have to now check every step of the process myself - i hate second guessing people, and micromanaging, but at this point, i have no choice

We've got a reservation for a table for 6-8 at the Redeye Grill, Home of the Dancing Shrimp", who unfortunately will not be performing as the Orchestra's on strike. Located at the corner of 7th Avenue and West 56th Street, at 1:00 P.M. tomorrow under "968 Group". See you there.
