Ignition Coils?
#1

I have the 924S3 running and trackable and will post another thread on it. I'm currently using the original 924S coil (1988; which is the same part number as for the 968: 944 602 115 00). I number of people have suggested that I upgrade the coil, but none have been specific as to why, and which coil(s) is/are the best. Any thoughts? This car is track only and I hope to begin racing it this winter.

I have put so called "performance" coils on a number of cars I have had, and really can't say that any of them gave a kick in the pants. Just for fun I put an MSD Blaster coil on the 968. No difference. Spend your coil money on several sets of new spark plugs, much better investment in performance.

if and when i change mine, i will change it to a bosch super blue - always ran them in everything - good stout coil with a big fat spark - can't say i ever saw any performance improvement, but i can say i never had one fail, unlike stock stuff

i agree about the plugs - change them about every 10k to NGK iridium and don't worry about the coil unless you have to, or just have extra money burning a hole in your pocket

Money doesn't stay in my pocket long enough to burn a hole. I like to think that I'm propping up the economy.
