Check out the 968 group on Facebook. There are a couple of cars on there getting parted out.

Waylander has rebuilt a few, perhaps yours can be saved?

That is just mad money, all 70s 2 strokes are now silly money

There was a Kawasaki Z1a for sale $25,000

One of my first jobs after leaving school was to build and test ride all the brand new bikes that came over in crates from Japan,

Favourites of the time

Suzuki GS1000 EN

Honda CBX

Kawasaki H2

Honda CB900FD

The CBX was a missile for a light weight 18 year old, loved them all, cant afford any of them now

When a headlight motor costs  $ 1,000   :o , the simple solution is :   don’t drive the car at night anymore .

( unless it’s the only car you have , and must drive after sundown ..)

but good to know you can find ones for a small fraction of the cost,  at other sources vs. the dealers

Ahh think there is a slight misunderstanding , your looking for the motor that operates the complete unit , it is not the unit that adjusts the light beam .

no no

I got mine from Oklahoma foreign, but it was 10 years ago. Who knows what their stock of 968s is these days?

Damn, I should have held out, I sold both of my Daytona Specials for $4500 a couple of years ago. One was bond stock, they other had DG pipes, etc.

You had two Daytona Specials, dangit : ) I had a Yamaha shop in the early/mid 80's and they were all gone by then, there was a guy that came by almost every Saturday on one, I kept trying to get it from him but he wouldn't sell. Years later I had a BMW R100S and an RD400 like that orange one at the same time, guess which one was faster..

I had one that was modified I bought when I was on the road, when I told my brother about it, he asked me "Why didn't you buy mine?" I said "I'll take it, too" before he could say another word. My brother is notoriously wishy-washy. Had I asked to buy it, he would have hummed and hawed for months (until I gave up). His was pristine with 3500 miles on it.

Fast? It was the only bike I've ever ridden that I thought could tear me right off the seat, it accelerated so fast.

I’d advise anyone thinking they need a new motor to pull it out and hook it to a 12V power source. I’ve replaced one that was bad, but I’ve had a whole lot of intermittent juju with one, or both motors. Generally, they won’t lower when I turn them off at night, then they work fine the next time I start my car. I’ve never had them not rise when I turned the headlights on. (Knocking on wood.)

Have no idea where to start looking. If it’s not the connector to the motor itself, I suspect the ignition switch, but I definitely need to go through my fuse box with some contact cleaner.

Have you tested the headlight relay already?

Yes, pop the relay apart and clean the contacts, both top and bottom.

The headlights go down with gravity, so if they are sticking it's the hinges and the linkage, not the motors or the relay.

You cleaned but have tested it with a multimeter for the output? Cleaned will not say it functions again..

Sadly, OK Foreign is no more. I called last month and number is disconnected. Website is gone. Google says permanently closed.
