I'm re-painting my 968
#41

Interesting read...

Glad we "all get along" here! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/rock.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

What I cannot understand is when someone has a REAL Club Sport, and then decides to NOT have the decals. The one I checked out here in Vancouver a few months back had the "decal delete". If I were to buy that car, that would be the FIRST thing I would put on the car! If I am going to drive around in a "bright YELLOW" 968, then may as well advertise WHAT it is!

Just my "two cents" worth...

Dam, you guys........

I've spent the last 20 minutes looking at before/after photos and photos of CS's in the UK.

I'm starting to not like the stickers. After going back and forth, the stickers just look out of place.

Like I've said two times before, I have two months first to think about it.

Instead of the "CS" I could put a "I have a small penis" sticker on it.

All kidding aside, can someone take a picture of the rear hatch hinges from the outside?

I think I put the hardware on backwards.

I need an angle looking down the channel showing both hinges

Thanks

I hear the "authenticity" arguments, but ultimately, it's the OP's car, and he's free to do whatever he wants. Just from a purely aesthetic standpoint, though, my personal opinion is that the decals detract from the lines of the car. I would leave them off if it was my car. Not a fan of the white wheels, either.

I think it looks good as is. The paint is fresh - keep it clean and skip the decals. I kinda like the wheels too. Gives the car a 1 of 1 look.

I've been driving the car around town and the "nice car" comments have increased substantially.

+1 for leaving it alone.

Taking the day off to run a bunch of errands, one of which is to search for a local body shop to paint my rear wing/spoiler the same color as the car. I did not do that to my iris blue car because I actually prefer the " accent " and contrast of the black wing , but on tne aventurine green car it does not have the same visual imoact, and I think it'll be better if painted,. But not taking it to the same Porsche dealer-used and recommended shop where I had the door guard strips painted ; even though they did a great job and it looks as factory as it gets, that was a colossal price rip off. I had no patience to shop around so I just went with it, but this time I'm doing a bit more competitive search.. I hear the cost of paint has gone up by a lot in the last couple of years ( especially here in Ca because of some new environmental regs ) so I'm bracing for at least a couple of thousand bucks ..or more.. just for that small spoiler, but unless I drive the car to Mexico and have it painted there ( with probably far better and longer lasting paint ) at a fraction of the cost, I guess there's little choice .

I just had an estimate of 3500 to do the whole car. No real body work to deal with, just a few dings. That was complete disassembly, paint, and reassembly, including new rubber welting on the plastic body pieces.

Wow, are you kidding me ?! The lowest price at a reputable paint shop for that same job in the Bay Area is about $ 9,000. The average is about $ 12,000. ( at least that's the " insurance " price shops charge, they may be willing to drop that quite a bit for non insurance work, but I can't imagine anyone around here will do it for much less than 8 K + ) .

I've got some rust in my drivers door on the track car that I'm thinking of getting repaired and painted. It's a PITA cuz I suspect I will have to trailer the car there. If Jay's at 8 i wonder how much it would be here? Hmm
