I'm the new proud owner of a 85' Audi 4000S.

I will start to post pics once I clean it up tomorrow.



The good

A solid 1.8 4cyl that reminds me of the 944. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/tongue.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

5 speed

Timing belt just replaced

Power locks work

Power windows work

Sunroof works



The bad

Salvage title <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/blink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Needs a paint job

Odo broke so the cars probably pushing 250k

Needs new shocks

Driverside window needs a new motor

Not Quattro



God is so good to me.

I have been longing for a stick german car ever since the accident, and a perfect situation just came about.

Someone from our church heard I was looking and gave me the car for FREE!

I've already searched around and found some great prices on new shocks ($60 for all 4) and I found some crossdrilled brakes. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/tongue.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

I got to hit Sunset and see if they have some window motors.

while i am sure you will enjoy the car, and congrats on the purchase, i recommend posting on an audi site, not a 968 site - this isn't even a place for a 944, let alone an audi

perhaps some parts are similar, but the car is entirely different - this is a 968 specific site - we don't even cater to its predecessors or other models of the same marque, let alone different marques - there are other sites for that



i totally understand about buying something else, and have no issue with that - however, we do not want to dilute the discussions here, or spread out into different types of cars - the occasional pic of something amazing is one thing, but starting discussions about other cars is for another place

Nice Owdee. 1.8s are anemic, but the 5-speed helps. Is that the same 5-speed used in 944s? VAG has been building 1.8s for a long time... maybe you can slap in some modern 1.8 parts for more pauer?

They are anemic compared to the 968 but just as fun, I'm having an absolute blast.

I want to make it more powerful but at the same time I don't want to dip too far into my 968 savings account.

I was soo disapointed that I couldn't fit my old 968 wheels on it, that would have been sooooo funny. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/tongue.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

to some extent I would agree with this, so far as the thread does not start to take a turn from a few anecdotal references about a car into a prolonged discussion of that vehicle's attributes or lack thereof, technical data, etc

in which case another forum would indeed be more suitable.

no worries - have fun - i posted a thread about my M3, so it's not like i am trying to curtail sharing of excitement over a new toy - i'm not suggesting that others don't do the same either - but, it started to sound like it was going to become a whole "thing" about audis, and that's not what this site is about - i just don't want to get into complex discussions about this mod versus that, or detailed analyses that are better served on an audi site



does that make sense? i'm having a hard time expressing myself today

I understand completly.

I also wasn't planning on getting dirty into the technical details anyhoo.

I found a good Audi forum and they are helping me with the tech bits.



I however did find it funny that the 968 and the 4000 have the same brake/clutch pedals. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/tongue.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />
