Ok, take a deep breath, exhale... Repeat. What prompted the hate outburst all of a sudden ? Doesn't have anything to do with computers, does it ?

I have been trying to get the internet security software to update on my wife's computer for 3 months...reboots, re-installs, support calls and emails. Two solid days this week...found out the date was wrong. ARRRGHGHHHHHH!!

Now I can't get the stupid wireless back!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then on mine, works fine for months since the new build - then all of a sudden Outlook keeps asking me for my password five freaking times every time it pings my server - plus all sorts of good emails are ending up in my bellsouth spam folder and are not even getting to outlook!!!

Arrrrrghhghghghhhhhhhh!!! I hate computers.

Recent download of IE10 ?

I found the "upgrades" make the explorer practically impossible to use.

I never use ie - It is one of the most un-secure web browsers out there. I only use firefox now.

WE converted to an Apple household and I have none of the problems that typically plague PC users and we have never been hacked. Operating system upgrades are effortless. The last PC operating system upgrade I did convinced me to make the change. When I went back to school for my Enology degree in 2008 I made the switch and never looked back.

yup - the stuff just works. it may not have all the applications PCs have, and PC guys hate that they can't fiddle with stuff, but as a rule they don't crash, don't have hacking issues, and do what they are supposed to do. my wife won't change. we just bought a new bang zoom dell. problems right out of the box. still sorting through the stuff. with a mac, you plug it in, turn it on, and start to work.

but, people buy camrys too...........

Changed my small company's system to Macs a few years ago. There was ALWAYS some kind of trouble going on with the PCs. It was just soaking up to much time and too many resources. I'll say what everyone says that has done this...."I never looked back."

I usually go years without major problems. i build my own computers so macs don't work for me. I have 20+ years of fiddling with these things. I have software that just won't run on a mac and I really don't care for their attitude. Try to get a mac with an 8 core processor, 16 gigs of ram and 10 hard drives..ain't gonna happen easily. This way I built what I want....my computer is sort of like Flash's car - lol

Okay I finally did just manage to get the wireless settings fixed on the wife's PC so all is working again. Several days of pulling my hair out. Good thing I am already bald.

lol - the thing about macs is that they only need half the processing power and RAM of a PC to do the same job. the multiple drive thing is no problem. i'm currently running 7 external drives, plus the on-board drive, off of my imac. it has never been an issue, even way back when i ran scsi drives.

but, as i said, guys who like to fiddle will never be happy with a mac. guys who just like stuff that works, and don't require tinkering, love them. i have better things to do than have to fiddle with a computer. if i have a tool that requires maintenance or tweaking in order to use it, i throw it away and get a better tool.

I just had it working - then it quit. I think the problem is with my linksys router - They went to crap when cisco bought them. I reset the router - then it worked again. I will be going to get a Buffalo tomorrow and that hopefully will solve my problem.

I definitely have a love hate relationship with computers. Love what I've been able to do with them, hate mine in the last week or so when I've spent too much time doing simple things.

hmmm - mine works fine. i never have router problems. that's weird.

i think a lot of the computer problems are user induced. my wife has had more problems with her systems than anybody i know. she keeps doing dumb things like loading anti-virus software and such though. that's exactly the way a lot of hackers get in. she also leaves applications open, and has a lot of startup items. that crashes PCs quite often. i can't get her to stop though. she doesn't know enough about them to fix them, and i end up having to deal with them. i'm not a PC guy though, so my frustration limits are easily reached.

i've had macs for as long as they've been around. i never had problems to speak of. they keep running too. one of my systems is 12 years old, and another 10. both run great, though they are no longer supported, and a lot of software now won't work with their operating systems. what is on there though still works perfectly.

It's not that I necessarily like to fiddle with computers, but I do like to upgrade from time to time and at double, triple, or higher cost for the Mac's, that rules them out for me.

well, upgrading is great, as long as it is actually upgrading, and not just getting something because something else no longer works. that's the problem i see with PCs. one problems is that they don't test the operating system and such enough before release, and then have to keep "fixing it". before long, nothing works unless you replace everything. like i said, i have the same mac running now for 12 years. only in the last year did any of the PCs we looked at pass it up in actual operational speed, in side by side tests.

most mac users run their machine for at least 5 years before upgrading. PC users tend to switch much sooner. so, if you factor in how long a mac runs, it's actually a lot less expensive than a PC.

by the way, macs now can run most PC applications, so that "excuse" is also now dead.

I have built three computers in the last 7 years. They keep getting more and more awesome with each one I do. I have three monitors now, with the middle one being a 32in HD TV. IT is like sitting in the space shuttle - lol
