Today I pulled the flywheel form my car, it all seems to be in good order. But when I hold the "engine side"of the DMF I can twist the "clutch/ pressure plate side of the DMF.... is this normal or should there be nof flex while twisting both sides. I know there is a rubber piece between the two surfaces, but I just want to make sure that I am not putting back a worn DMF..... <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/dry.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

i don't have the spec, but you should be able to rotate the outer section relative to the inner section, but it should not be particularly easy - the amount of rotation is relative to the effort expended - i have seen a flywheel rotate 2 inches with some effort and leverage, and still function

I was told that an indication of whether or not a DMF is good is how quickly one side "rebounds" after the rotation or twist is applied. It should rebound on its own pretty quickly and easily. If you have to "push" it back to the equilibrium position, replace the unit.
