New member from Hamburg, NY.

HI guys,

My name is Rick. I live in Hamburg NY on Lake Erie, that's just out side of Buffalo. And no the snow is not that bad here.

I had a 1971 911 T back in th 1991, that was a fun car, but I bought it wrong. Didn't have it checked out before purchase and there was a lot of things wrong with it. Sold it the next year. The last year I started saving and started looking at 2001-2004 Boxster S. For the last 3 weeks I have been driving past a blue Porsche (1994 968) parked at a detail shop in Hamburg and finally stopped to look at it.

Took it for a drive and loved it. They had all the repair records for the last 12 years. A real nice car. I was a little to slow on getting my act together and the car was sold. But it did get my interest going in the 968. I won't make the same mistake I made with my 911. I will have a pre-purchase inspection done and all the information I can gather from this forum will help in my next purchase.

If anyone lives in the Buffalo area that could meet with me for a coffee (I'll buy) and talk about their 968 I would appreciate it.

Thanks.

Hello Herr Polizei,

Welcome! I have a 94 coupe and visit Buffalo often. I went to UB and visit friends in Lewiston regularly. Next time I visit I'll let you know and you can check out my 968.

I did the same thing when I bought my 968. It was a friend's who passed away and it was in his garage. Parked for 5 years. I told his wife if she wanted to sell I would be interested but it had to be affordable. Well, my $5,000 "affordable" Porsche has now run up receipts past the $10K mark. A PPI is a good thing. I should have done one, but then I wouldn't have the car. There would have still been things that probably wouldn't have showed up since the car was not running at the time I bought it.

A true pay me now or pay me later scenario - lol.

Have the PPI done and make sure when you pull the trigger, it is the right car for you. The car is an absolute blast to drive and I love it otherwise it would be making me sad and broke.

Good luck and welcome to the forums! When you get you 968 post photos so we can see it!

Ed

PS..I am originally form Erie so I know you are lying about the amount of snow - lol

I live in Florida now, so any snow is too much!

If you want to enjoy the car, don't keep track of the $$$ amount of the maintenance, repairs and upgrades.

Welcome, 968 is a great car, just needs to be maintained properly. Mine is for sale, but I'm a bit of a distance from you. If you are interested, search for my ad...lots of work done. Just getting AC fixed now, rest is solid. Pretty flexible on price so you could get a decent deal.

Ad is below, to someone serious on this forum, I can work with them.

I have an 04 sequioa, 05 rl,a 968 and 86 911, plus two little kids...something has to go. We have 3 car garage and My wife's car has been outside now for over three years and she wants garage space back. The 968 drew the short straw so I need to sell it. Honestly, I just don't have the time to drive it anymore. Even thinking about selling the 911.
